rounder February 6, 2012 at 9:52 am Dixon mower not charging battery Model 3362 year 1998? I am troubleshooting the problem and need some information about the charging system. If someone can tell me anything about it, it will be more than I currently know.

renpen February 24, 2012 at 3:29 pm What brand of engine? Is it a briggs, kohler, tecumseh? What type of charging system do you have? Do the headlights come on with the engine shut off or does the engine need to be running? Is the battery good?

On a briggs engine with the seperate headlight circuit there is a red and a orange wire coming from the alternator. The orange goes to the head lights, the red is charging. There is a diode in the red line. You should get 3 amps after the diode. The orange wire should have 14 volts. Check the voltage/amps downstream of the diode. This should tell you if the diode is good. It should have 28 volts AC on the alternator side of the diode. This will tell you if the alternator is good.

I have an old Dixon ztr 4421 chain drive & vertical cone clutch system. I need to adjust the left side clutch so it will equal the right side clutch tension.

i used to work on these for a living. seems like there was a spring steel rod like 5/16 or 3/8 diameter and maybe 6 or 8 long that carried the female cones and these tended to break alot, causing the left or right side to steer funny. i do remember that you have to run these rods in or out to adjust the clearance between the cones and then adjust the handles till they both lined up in the neutral position. go to a Dixon dealer and get a service manual

Scott F February 13, 2012 at 6:23 am How can I seal a crack in my plastic gas tank on my Dixon ZTR lawn mower so gas wont leak out?

The bottom of my gas tank has a long small crack allowing the gas to leak out. I have tried a couple of different puttys to seal it but they do not hold in the gas, obviously they dont adhere to plastic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

SealAll would be a temporary fix but to fix that tank you would need to have it plastic welded and no one is gonna try that on a tank that has had fuel in it already

The commercial mowers most certainly have an adjustable deck height via a hand lever on the right hand side to the unit. The residential models like the Ram 44 & 50, Ram Mag 44 & 50 can all be adjusted from 1.5 4.5 cutting heights. The SpeedZTR models are only adjustable from 1.5 4.0 .
