Three underreported problems of embodiment or emotional literacy Haling the Trauma of Abuse In my healing spiritual journey to embodiment, healing

and transcendence I have encountered three distinct skill requirements or difficulties. These difficulties, understandings that I have found frequently missing in most psychotherapeutic techniques and spiritual practices are: 1) Being out-of-body, depersonalized, or dissociated. As they say, its all about location, location, location or maybe its a problem of relocation. What is your answer to the question, Where are you? 2) Being numb. Not being present in all body areas, A problem of being impenetrable or overwhelming Or what I call a problems of deflection. So how do we solve this problem? How do we get through the impenetrable walls within us? Persistence saves the day. See the last paragraph of this essay. And what is your answer to the question, What areas of your body and you not aware of? Or In what areas of your body are you not present 3) Being over-controlled and suppressive, oppressive of our life energy, of our emotional expression (internal knots) . This can be perceived as tension with our bodies. So the answer is we can decontrolling or releasing these tensions, internal knots. Become aware of internal holding or tensions. Release these tensions. We have met the enemy and he is us. (Pogo) What is your answer to the question, What tensions are you aware of it your body? So that about sums it up for the moment. Below is page 141 from Thich Nat Hahns , book Reconciliation. In this page the Buddhist monk, discusses his approach to some of these issues. Enjoy Mickey Judkovics Thich Nat Hahn: Removing the Object (from the Buckeye Sangha) Master Linji, the great ninth-century Chinese Zen master and the founder of the lineage of Plum Village, was fond of saying, "remove the object." The object is the person or situation we're thinking about, the story. So the practice is to remove the

object and come back to the body and feelings. Stay with the energy, let go of the thinking. By following the energy back into our body and feelings, we can find the internal knots, embrace them tenderly, let the tension there unwind and release itself, and we can heal. It's a little like learning how to ride a bicycle. You can sit on it, someone can push you a bit, but at a certain point you know you can ride. "I got it, I got it!" The "Remove the Object Meditation" goes like this: 1 Breathing in, I find my in-breath; breathing out, I find my out-breath. 2 Breathing in, I call to mind a charged issue (object); breathing out, I open to that issue. 3 Breathing in, I let go of the thinking about the issue (object); breathing out, I embrace that energy within my body. Sometimes the energy in the body and feelings can impenetrable or overwhelming. In that case, we can touch difficult feeling or situation for a short time, perhaps twenty seconds to a minute. Then we can open our eyes and rest our attention on something outside us for a few minutes-perhaps I out the window at the natural world. Then when we're read-, go back to be in touch with the feelings again. We can try goo back and forth for a few rounds. Alternating our attention like this provides us a safe base outside, and gives us space inside.
