Herbal soap is a kind of soap that has a mixture of natural juice and vitamins extracted from medicinal plants. Common Use of Medicinal Plants Guava leaves for superficial wound (antiseptic) Madre de Cacao leaves for mange or scabs Equipments: Plastic basin Wooden ladle or bamboo stick Glass or cup Muslin (katsa) cloth or any strainer Clay pot or stainless steel pot Stove Plastic molder (ice cream cup) Procedure Wash the leaves thoroughly Put 1 cup of cut leaves and 2 cups of water in a pot Bring to boil on low fire, and continuously boiling for 15 minutes After 15 minutes of boiling, strain. Keep the decoction cool. Materials: 1 cup caustic soda (NaOH) 3 cups cooled decoction 5 cups cooking oil Coloring powder (optional) Preparation Prepare all equipment and materials to be used. Put 1 cup of caustic soda and 3 cups of decoction in a plastic pail. Mix thoroughly until all caustic soda is dissolved. Put 5 cups of cooking oil and continue mixing. Continue mixing until the consistency is like condensed milk. Pour the mixture into molder. Let it cool. After 4 to 5 hours, remove the soap from the molder. Place the soap in a cabinet or table and keep it for 30 days (aging period) before using or put into packaging. Put the desired labeling. Precautions Caustic soda can burn skin. In case of contact, wash your skin with water and soap. Caustic soda can be harmful to your health if not handled properly. Wear mask and gloves for your protection.
