Cost of accuracy Those of us in the instrumentation industry know there is a simple rule; if you want higher accuracy, it will

usually cost more money. Paddlewheel Flowmeters come very close to dispelling that rule. Due to modern technology, advanced plastics and metals, solid-state circuitry, and good old capitalism the high cost of accuracy has been challenged.

The F-1000 Paddlewheel Flow Meters are easy to install, battery-powered and a great value for many full pipe water flow applications. The F-1000 Paddlewheel Flow Meters feature high quality, durable materials that provide long operational life in a variety of applications, including mildly corrosive liquids. With their simple strap-on saddle or T-mount installation fittings, the F-1000 Paddlewheel Flow Meters install quickly on most standard pipe sizes, and they can be mounted in virtually any position. The Paddlewheel Flow Meter's easy to read, 6digit LDC display indicates both rate of flow and total flow, and includes a reset button for the totalizer. Once the F-1000 Paddlewheel Flow Meters is installed, its meter head and mechanical portion may be quickly removed for maintenance or replacement The T-mount F-1000 Paddle Wheel Flow Meters are available in sizes from 3/8 to 2 inches and come with standard male pipe threads. The saddle-mount Paddle Wheel Flow Meters fit any pipe with a wall thickness equal to schedule 40 or schedule 80 pipe, with models for diameters from 1-1/2 to 6 inches. Quick and easy installation is accomplished by simply drilling a 1-1/8 inch hole in the pipe and strapping the Paddle Wheel Flow Meter on with the included hardware. Each F-1000 Paddle Wheel Flow Meters are pre-calibrated for a specific pipe size and wall thickness, so it is ready to install right out of the box. All necessary mounting hardware and batteries are included with the Paddle Wheel Flow Meter.

The rotor axis is positioned to limit contact between the paddles and the flowing media. There are many different types of paddlewheel flow meters. Examples include gas flow meters, air flow meters, liquid flow meters, and water flow meters. A gas flow meter is used to determine the flow of a moving gas in an enclosed pipe or passage. An air flow meter is used to measure airflow rate by measuring only a part of the entire flow. A liquid flow meter is used to determine the flow of quantity of a moving fluid. A water flow meter is designed to measure the flow of water. Paddlewheel flow meters carry physical, media and operating specifications, and differ in terms of output options and features. Pipe diameter, mounting style and end fittings are important physical specifications to consider when selecting paddlewheel flow meters. Pipe diameter is the diameter of the pipe to be monitored. Choices for mounting style include in-line, insertion, and non-invasive. In-line paddlewheel low meters are installed directly in the process line. They require a straight run of pipe for installation. By contrast, insertion-style paddlewheel flow meters require a threaded hole in the process pipe, or another means of access. Noninvasive paddlewheel flow meters do not require direct-mounting in the process flow, and can be used in closed piping systems. Some flow meters use clamps, compression fittings, or tube ends. Others use flanged, plain end, socket weld, or threaded fittings. Media specifications for paddlewheel flow meters include media temperature range, and may define a devices ability to accommodate liquids with suspended solids (slurries). Performance specifications for paddlewheel flow meters include velocity flow rate, gas volumetric flow rate, liquid volumetric flow rate, operating temperature and operating pressure. As a rule, a flow meters performance can be determined by its turndown ratio, which represents the devices dynamic or operating range. For example, paddlewheel flow meters with a 500-SCCM flow rate and turndown ratio of 50:1 can operate effectively and resolve flow down to 10 SCCM. If these same device haves a turndown of 100:1, however, then the paddlewheel flow meters will resolve effectively to 5 SCCM.
