Christine Cormack, RN, MSN,
Family Nurse Practitioner.
Christine Cormack has been an RN for over 25 years
and a Family Nurse Practitioner for 15 years. Originally
graduating from Humboldt State University with a
Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education, she served as a
volunteer camp director and teacher in the Appalachian
mountains of Eastern Kentucky. There she met a nurse
practitioner/midwife who provided primary care in for
this underserved rural community. Inspired by this
woman, she returned to school and earned her Master
of Nursing from pace University in New York. She
began her career as a public health nurse in the mater-
nal/child/pediatrics program in the South Bronx of New
York City. Her interest in womens health led to her
second job as a labor and delivery nurse at Columbia
Medical Center in N.Y. After 5 years, she returned to
her native state of California, working in both public
health and obstetrics. In 1996 she finished her postmas-
ters training as a Family Nurse Practitioner and was
certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practi-
tioner. Before committing to a primary care practice,
she fulfilled her dream of providing healthcare to the
indigenous of Guatemala.

Three years later she returned to the States and settled in Kernville, California. From 2000-
2009 she provided medical care at kern Valley Health Care Districts Rural Health Clinic. Re-
cently she took a break from her career in order to be more involved in her sons education,
home schooling him for 2 years. Now 12 years old, he is back in regular school, and with
her husbands support, she is ready to begin again with the career she loves. When Betty pate,
Nurse Practitioner and owner of Solar Med Spa approached her to open a practice there, the
timing was perfect. Women are the center of the family and provide a balance in a highly
masculine society. When they are healthy, the world is healthier. Often women neglect them-
selves in order to care for others. My goal is to provide knowledgeable, compassionate, com-
plete health care for women through all lifes stages. I am excited to be a part of Solar and
Sagewood Wellness Center and fulfill my dream of providing holistic health care for women.

My husband and I have been with Gary Charlon State Farm since
2001. We have both home and auto insurance through them. When a
severe wind storm hit in December of 2011 and damaged our roof and
awning, I placed a call to their local office. The service was great as
always. I was informed that because this was part of a catastrophic
event, this would be handled differently and could take time. Becky
told me she would put in a claim. She was very thorough as to what
we might expect as far as wait time and process. Because this
situation was really out of the hands of the local office, she didn't know
the details for sure. Well to our surprise, the catastrophic assessor
was out in less than two weeks. He reported the damage, and cut the
check right then. For someone who traveled across the United States
to do this, he was very pleasant, professional, timely, and thorough.
When our daughter got home and saw the State Farm van at our
house, she stated "look mom.......like a good neighbor......State Farm
is here! Becky from the local office also called to check the status and
how things were going. Mr. Charlon even offered to help cover our
roof to protect from upcoming whether if need be. We could not ask for
better service than this.

I had talked to one of my brothers in Michigan whose home was
burglarized close to the same time. Almost 2 months later, he was still
waiting for his insurance company to resolve his claim. I bragged how
we have State Farm and how quickly ours was taken care of. Thank
you Gary Charlon and staff for your great service.

As the Kern supervisor, how will you handle the issue of personal rights /prop-
erty rights in comparison to the current push to increase dog license fees, im-
pose cat licenses, and impose mandatory spay /neuter as well as restrictions
on horse and other animal ownership?
Micks answer: I'm not an advocate for increasing fees on dog licenses or
cat licenses, nor any other kind of increase in pet licensing. If your question
is true and the government is considering raising the fees on pet control, I
would need to understand the financial reasons behind this request. But
without knowing more about the issue, its beginning to sound way too famil-
iar....the government knows more about managing our households than we
do. My dog, Mystery, is a member of my family and one of my best friends.
We love her and we have taken good care of her since someone dropped her
off at our doorstep 8 years ago. We don't need to pay more fees for our dog
or other pets. And neither should you. Thanks again for the question.
