The efforts were highlighted during The Salvation Armys 2006 Volunteer Recognition Dinner. B. Aerospace Education
By Silvia Scotti Aerospace Education is continuing in Squadron 10! The newest addition to the Aerospace Education team is SM Silvia Scotti. SM Scotti has been introducing aerospace to the new recruits. 1Lt Larry Buschell has been working with the cadets in creating models of the plane flown by Harriet Quimby. The month of March we celebrate Woman in American History. Harriet Quimby was the first American Woman to become a licensed Pilot. She learned to fly in Hempstead, NY and received her license in August 1911. She was also the first woman to fly across the English channel. She died in a tragic accident when her plane crashed. Both she and her passenger were not wearing seat belts and they were tossed from the plane. Today all air crafts are equipped with seat belts. Our Fleet of these model planes is almost completed. The cadets will launch them on Tuesday April 18Th at the regular meeting place. UPCOMING PLANS: We are looking to schedule a museum field trip to see the actual Harriet Quimby airplane, explore hot air ballooning, and will be having a course in Map Reading. Check out our Aerospace Education Bulletin Board. Please feel free to post interesting aerospace related articles to share with your fellow cadets. 16 JAN Leadership Academy 26 JAN LIG ES Training 28 JAN Aircrew Safety Training 28 JAN LIG SAREX 16 FEB LIG ES Training 19 MAR LIG SAREX 23 MAR LIG ES Training 1 1 5

ICE
Following the disaster in London, the Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" worldwide campaign. The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. Please do. Please will you also email this to all the people you know, it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.
