Plural form of Noun

A handful of nouns appear to be plural in form but take a singular verb: * The news is bad. * Gymnastics is fun to watch. * Economics/mathematics/statistics is said to be difficult. Numerical expressions are usually singular. * Fifty thousand dollars is a lot of money. * One-half of the faculty is retiring this summer. Nouns might seem to be singular in nature but take a plural form and always use a plural verb: * My pants are torn. (Nowadays you will sometimes see this word as a singular "pant" [meaning one pair of pants] especially in clothing ads, but most writers would regard that as an affectation.) * Her scissors were stolen. * The glasses have slipped down his nose again.

Either Vs. Neither

Either and Neither use singular verb.

Either... or is used to offer a choice between two possibilities: Either Mike or Lisa will be there. Neither... nor is equivalent to not or none of the two. Neither Mike nor Lisa will be there. Formula: Either + of + group of people ex: Either of us is ready. Neither + of + group of people ex: Neither of us is ready. Either Bill or Bob is going to the conference. (One or the other is going, but not both.) Neither Joan nor Jane likes sushi. (= Joan doesn't like sushi. All Ready Vs Already ?

All ready (two words) means "ready," with the word all. All ready means entirely ready. Example: We are all ready to go.

Already, an adverb, means "by now," "even now," or "by then." Already means previously or so soon. Examples: Is it summer already? (so soon) I did the dishes already. (previously) The plane had already left when we arrived.
