Introductions Laura gives update on C.A.R.E office and website -C.A.R.E is a centralized center for sexual violence response and sexual health promotion The new vice president of Student Affairs, Patricia Telles-Irvin, is very supportive and a big advocate for the office. In spring quarter, CCSV submitted an application for a grant that will fund a fulltime victim advocate position for the center. We are expected to hear if we got the grant on September 30, 2011. [UPDATE: Grant received! More information to come.] Patricia pushed to soft launch the center despite knowing if wed get the grant. Currently, its just Laura working as the center. The website for the center is www.northwstern.edu/care We encourage all departments to put links to the website on their individual websites. We also want the CCSV to encourage students to use blogging as a way to disseminate the link to the website. C.A.R.E promotional cards to hand out will be available at the next CCSV meeting.

Please stress to the NU students that C.A.R.E is not a 24 hour or emergency response center. 24 hour emergency hotlines and centers are listed on the website. Suggestion: Put the YWCA 24hour hotline for Evanston and Chicago on the website. [Update: Done. Center on Halsted Anti-Violence Project hotline also listed.] There are a lot of reverse links to other related departments on the website where students can find other resources. IT will be doing website usability testing with students this quarter The website is still a work in progress, suggestions are welcomed 4:31pm Michael Rohd gives a debrief on the Wildcat Welcome ENUs Both Michael and the participants felt really good about the ENU. Theyve gotten great responses from students and are constantly approached by freshman thanking them for how creative it was and treating them like they were intelligent and had common sense. The students also felt the show was something they could be proud of and not embarrassed by. The P.As expressed amazing conversations in the breakout sessions afterwards, and also felt very prepared for facilitating the sessions. Preliminary data from the student surveys show that 85% of students said the ENUs provided helpful and useful information. Overall, the ENU was viewed as a great addition to Wildcat Welcome. Conversations will begin soon about where we can go from here with this particular ENU; can we bring it to other events on campus in the future. 4:47pm CCSV Projects for 2011-2012 -Laura is very impressed with what was accomplished in the past year. (Everyone breaks into small groups to brainstorm other initiatives to work on this year; especially for if we dont receive the grant. 5:10pm Groups present their ideas 1. Focus on campus policy and educational programming

-Analyze more data from ENU to see if the students were well informed 2. Focus on how the ENU can be integrated into other offices

3. Look at educational programming focused around protocol for faculty, staff, and AAs. Maybe CCSV could work with the office of gender studies to create language for faculty and staff on how to talk to students surrounding CCSV topics. -Develop a media campaign to spread information -Possibly incorporate international students for programming and services. 4. Focus on training for police officers -Laura recently did training with CSOs -Create social marketing 5. Create a clearer definition for consent -Possibly disseminate that definition by adding it to the safety assessment students complete. 6. Expand language and consent parameters in campus policy. -Possibly get NU President on board as a vocal and public advocate. -Possibly work with the Dartmouth initiative to reinforce alcohol habits for reasons that include preventing sexual violence. 5:25pm Jim Neumeister says they are in the early stages of finishing a first draft of the sexual violence policy. Includes: -Hope to have a working draft by the end of the quarter -CCSV will see it for review and recommendations 5:27pm Announcements -SHAPE recruiting for new members
