First, write the quadratic equation in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0 , a 0. Then factorize and write in the form of (x + a)(x + b) = 0 Thus x + a = 0 or x + b = 0 And x = - a, x = - b. Example : Solve the following quadratic equations 1. (x + 6) (x 3) = 0 x + 6 = 0 or x 3 = 0 x = 6 or x = 3 Exercise (i) ( x + 4)(x 1) = 0
