Course Description
An integrated approach to decision making viewed from a top management perspective; discussion of comprehensive problems of organizations. Prerequisites: Graduating students, BA 105, BA 141, BA 170

Course Overview
BA 190 is a capstone course to business management and serves as an integration course where knowledge acquired from previous courses are used to establish the strategic direction of an organization. The course focuses on environmental scanning, strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and control and evaluation In this course, students must think not just as managers, but as strategic decision-makers of organizations.

Details of Course Requirements


Case Analysis and Presentation
1. Ten (10) groups are to be formed, with two groups presenting on one of the five (5) case problems. Each presentation should last no more than 20 minutes. Presentations will be graded based on the following: Issue Analysis and Quality of Insights 5 points Validity and Feasibility of Recommendations 3 Effectiveness of Presentation 2 Total 10 points 2. Non-presenting groups must submit their own Case Reports on three (3) cases in which they are not presenting. The Case Report must not be longer than five (5) pages, with no appendix, using Times New Roman 11 point, single spacing, 2cm margin on all sides. Suggested format is as follows: a. Case Background b. Problem Statement c. Analysis d. Recommendations e. Implementation Plan f. Performance Metrics/Evaluation Measures

Strategic Management Presentation: Strategic Management in the Philippines


1. Groups are to interview member/s of the top management (BOD, CEO, VP) of any local organization in order to understand and comprehensively explain how strategic management is done in the Philippines. 2. Each group will present at most five (5) major insights/highlights on how strategic management is conducted in the organization that they chose. The group should also offer suggestions on how to further improve the strategic planning process. 3. Presentations should last no more than ten (10) minutes. They will be graded based on the following: Depth of Research and Quality of Insights 10 points Validity and Feasibility of Recommendations 10 Total 20 points 4. Two (2) groups that can invite a top executive of any medium- or large-sized organization to give a talk on strategic management will be exempted from doing 1 Case Report and the

Strategic Management Presentation. The talk should be done during class hours and scheduled during any of the research breaks. The group will be in charge of preparing everything for the talk and accommodating the guest speaker.

CEO Profile Presentation


1. Based on a list of local and international CEO/top executives, each member of the group chooses one executive and conducts an in-depth research on that persons history and accomplishments. Each groups CEO Profile Presentation should not be more than ten (10) minutes. 2. On the day of the presentation, the member should submit a max three (3)-page resume/CV of his/her CEO. Suggested format for the resume/CV is as follows: a. Name and Photo b. Employment History and Career Achievements c. Educational Attainment d. Other interesting trivia/information about the person.
