Pumps
When is a pump required?
In many British households water pressure is provided by storing water in
a tank that is positioned above the bathroom. The fall from the tank to the
tap or shower provides the pressure, this is known as "ravity ed water.
The greater the vertical distance between the tank or cylinder (hot water)
the higher the pressure is likely to be.
NB: / pump cannot be utted to mains water supply.
A pump may be required when:
Heiht restrictions limit the positionin o the water tank to a short
distance above the bathroom.
Jhe water is supplied to a number o bathrooms.
Lquipment such as showers, taps or shower kits require a speciuc
pressure to operate which is higher than your system currently provides.
Locating the pump.
Pumps are normally located close to the water supply, in the airing
cupboard or loft space.
NB: lt is important that the water tank has suucient capacity or the
pump, otherwise the water supply could run out during showering.
/ standard 225L tank should suuce, but or a simultaneous supply to
several locations a larger tank may be necessary.

For more information on pump features and which pump would be
suitable for your home, please consult the table below.
As a rule of thumb, the more complex features will require higher
pressure in order to function correctly. Therefore additional body jets,

Will this increase my water usage?
Increasing the water pressure does not necessarily result in increased ow
rates. An enhanced showering experience can still be enjoyed without
unnecessary environmental impact if you remember the following:
0nly turn on your shower when you are ready to use it.
Be aware o your showerin time.
Do not leave taps runnin unnecessarily, when shavin or brushin
teeth for example.
Use ow reulators where possible to reduce the ow rates rom your
tap or shower.
