This is the story about how Elegua became the only orisha that doesnt have to ask permission

for anything Long long ago when the earth was very young and all the orishas started thinking they were the best a group. Of orishas got together and starting plotting. They all agreed that Olofi was very old and very tired they decided that they didnt want him ruling that wanted to de throne him One orisha: its just not right. How can we allow someone so old rule over us Second orisha: but what are we going to do? Even though he is old he is still very powerful and he would kill us if we attacked him Third orisha: he does have a weakness All the orishas begin to mummer in awe that someone actually knows of a weakness of Olofi Third orisha: he is scared of mice. Other orisha: but what are we suppose to do with a mouse Third orisha: if one mouse will scare him. Thousands of mice will either kill him or run him out of his kingdom All the orishas laugh in joy at the plan and begin to plan how to get Olofi surrounded by mice not realizing that Elegua was by the door listening to the plan. The next day Olofi is getting ready to go to a party that these orishas had invited him to. Olofi is all happy and excited and as he goes into the house he realizes no one is there, he goes to turn around and the door slammed shut he starts walking towards one of the other doors and when he does an ocean of mice come flowing out he starts running towards another door and another ocean of mice pour out he is about to run head first into the front door when Elegua comes in front of him and stops him. Elegua: Olofi whats going on? Olofi: THE MICE THE MICE ARE GOING TO EAT HIM Elegua: no they arnt dont worry Olofi: YES YES THEY ARE Elegua: no look. Elegua starts eating all of the mice. Finally after he is done and Olofi has calm down he looks towards Elegua with fury in his eyes and says Olofi: WHO DID THIS?!?!?!?! Elegua with just a grin on his face pointed out where each and ever one of the orisha were hiding. A while later after Olofi got tired of punishing these orishas he turns towards Elegua and says Olofi: Elegua. You who saved my life and my kingdom.. How can I repay you Elegua: no no its ok Olofi: Elegua I owe you my life and thusly I shall repay you Elegua with a grin said Elegua: no no its ok Olofi began to get annoyed and began to shout. Olofi: ELEGUA. I ORDER YOU TO TELL ME WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE IN RETURN FOR SAVING MY LIFE. Elegua answered

Elegua: ok fine. I would like to be the only orisha that can go where I like. I would like to be the only orisha that does as I wish without having to ask for permission of anyone Olofi looks at Elegua realizing that he had just been tricked and said Olofi: so shall it be to iban eshu
