We 2nd graders have a few questions for you. Are you ready?

Yes, we all enjoyed working with you. We learnt about you and your country.

1 Turkish seems a difficult language to us. How do you say these words in Turkish: calendar, sky, Earth, football, skating, boy, girl? Turkish is different from any other European languages. We have some different letters such as , , and we have , and in our alphabet. 2 How is this letter pronounced? is pronounced like sh. 3 Do you know any Catalan or Spanish? Would you like to learn these languages? We do not know any words in your language. My pupils would like to learn some words from you. 4 Do you teach any other languages? In our school we learn only English, but in some high schools English, German and French are taught.

5 Do you pupils like English? Yes, my pupils in 4th and 5th grades like English very much. 6 Are there any foreign children in the class? No, there arent any foreign children in our school. 7 Do your pupils behave well in class? Yes, most of them behave well in class. 8 Do your pupils work hard in class? Yes, they work hard in class. 9 Do you keep your students in as a punishment sometimes? (making them go without playground...) In English classes I dont need to keep them in punishment since they like English classes then we enjoy the lesson, but they say that in other classes their teacher sometimes do (keeping them in the class in breaks, making them stand on one foot). 10 Do you use class signs in English? My students are older than yours and we are fewer than you in the class, so we do not have class signs. But when they speak Turkish, others warn saying No Turkish, yes English. Can you tell us about your class signs? 11 Have you got a class mascot? No, we havent. We liked your mascot. It is lovely. 12 Are there class monitors (children who take charge of something)? Yes. Aycan is in charge of keeping the class quiet. Glsen is in charge of the books in the class. Damla and Naim are in charge of checking homework. 13 What kind of toys or games have you got in your class? We dont have toys. We usually play word games. We sometimes play games on the computer. Hangman and Snake are our favourite games in our English classes. 14 How many sessions of English per week do your pupils have? We have English on Monday (one lesson) and Thursday (two lessons) in 5th grades. It is the same for 4th grades on Wednesday and Thursday.

15 How many children are there in the class? There are 16 students in our classes. 16 What festivals do you celebrate at school? We celebrate some special days such as the Republic Day (29th October), Childrens Day (23rd April), Youth Day (19th May). 17 Do you like your school? Yes, we love our school!
