Organisation UK sport

Role/aims
Established by Royal Charter in 1997, UK Sport is responsible for investing around 100 million of public funds each year from both the National Lottery and the Exchequer in high performance sport. Home sport council


We invest National Lottery and Exchequer funding in organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. Our structure reflects this focus. Sprito The Central Council of Physical Recreation

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is the new name for CCPR or the Central Council of Physical Recreation. We are a company limited by guarantee No 474512. Registered in England and Wales. The Sport and Recreation Alliance is the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK and represents more than 320 members organisations like the FA, the Rugby Football Union, UK Athletics, the Ramblers, British Rowing and the Royal Academy of Dance. Gaining a Sports Leaders UK award or qualification can be a life changing experience. We are investing 450 million through 46 governing bodies over the next four years and have agreed grow, sustain and excel targets with each one. Each sport has developed a whole sport plan that explains how it will use this money to achieve these targets.
