Purpose of report
The provide feedback to EYIF on the Budget Youth Summit event held with 28 young people at City Chambers on 18 January, 2012.

Main report
Edinburgh Youth Issues Forum held a Budget Youth Summit on 18 January 2012 This event provided an opportunity for young people to engage in the current budget consultations being conducted by City of Edinburgh Council.

The Budget Youth Summit 2.2


Organised in partnership with the Communications Team, Finance and Children and Families, the Budget Summit followed the Collaborative Problem Solving approach that has been used with neighbourhoods across the city. This interactive approach generated lively discussion with young people and provided useful input to the budget consultation process. There was however some feedback from a small number of young people who attended that the process felt too rushed and that there was not enough time to talk in detail about issues raised. Summit participants were sent the summary of comments and a web link to the general Council budget decisions soon after the event. Some young people have fed back that while they enjoyed the Summit, they would have liked to see how their comments had influenced the budget process in a more
