Assignment 3 Poem A A) I believe that Monroe had a difficult life. In the starting years of her career she struggled to become a model, she had to bleach her hair and later on get plastic surgery done as an actress. B) Paparazzi later hounded her about her nude photos she had done in her early years as a struggling model. C) I honestly do not feel sorry for her for, the fact that she chose how she wanted to live. In the end it was too much for her to handle. Tragically she committed suicide, she overdosed off of Barbiturate. 2. a. Loneliness was tough/ the toughest role you ever played To me this means that throughout her life during her acting career she was the talk of Hollywood, though she was famous she went through many bad marriages. b. You had grace to hold yourself/while those around you crawled These verses in my opinion mean that she had a lot of strength while she was at the top of her career. She outshined more than many other actresses. c. Your candle burned out long before/ your legend ever did In my opinion means that she died to early. Her death was tragic, but she will be remembered for a very long time. Poem B 1. The relationship between the couple is no realistic, neither of them are happy where they are in their lives. 2. The original plans of the speaker were to leave her home with her lover. But her mother left her father, the speaker decided to stay and help him. 3. The speakers problem with her lover is that shes working and hes not. She wants him to get a job and stay home with the kids instead of drinking at the bar with his friends. 4. A fast car symbolizes an escape from the life that she doesnt want to live. Her life with her lover isnt satisfying, she doesnt want to be the only one working and raising the children while her lover is out drinking.

Poem C 1. The hunt is a rite of passage to boys that are becoming men. 2. The journey is important because it is their heritage, their tradition. 3. Tradition is changing through the years as times are becoming more moderate to the urban society. 4. I) in order for a boy to become a man they must go on the hunt as a rite of passage.

II) The hunt is a journey that every boy must take in their tribe, this is important to the people of the tribe. III) Hunting starts as a rite then leads further through life as a way to survive. Once the boy becomes a man the hunt is to feed his family. IV) Never over hunt, take only what you need. Assignment 4 1. Wish you were here by Pink Floyd has always been one of my favourite songs since I was a child. It inspired me to pick up a guitar in the first place. When I hear the first notes in the song I can always recognize it, it touches my soul when I hear the words. One reason I love wish you were here is because of my brother Troy, I can remember listening to him play this song through and through, he always sang it proudly and that made me feel proud to know that song. Every time I hear or play wish you were here I always have my brother in mind. Pink Floyd is most definitely one of my biggest inspirations to playing music at all. If I could meet Roger waters I would tell him that his music inspired me to play. 2. My brother Curt has had a profound effect on my life concerning music. When he started playing I started playing. He played the bass while I played drums for him. I soon after started playing guitar, then bass, then drums again. Without my brother Curt I would have never started playing. Many years have passed and I still play music. And even after 12 years of playing I still love it to the core. I wouldnt give up music for anything in the world. 3. For my example of an influence on music I will use Slash. His music is known everywhere his guitar riffs are infamous, he has been one of the most positive influences in rock and roll for many years. He has also recently started making a come-back featuring certain musicians and vocalists on his recent album.
