montreal students protest tuition hike

alex Carmona News ediTor Tens of thousands of students gathered in Montreal on Thursday to protest upcoming tuition hikes pushed through by the Quebec government. The hikes, which promise to increase the cost of post-secondary education by as much as 75 per cent over five years, drew one of the largest protests in the citys history. We demand that education be public and that education be accessible, Eli Freedman, a thirdyear philosophy student at McGill who took part in the protest, said. Thursdays protest was only one part of a large student strike in Quebec aimed at preventing the hikes. General student strikes are in effect throughout most of the provinces universities, while McGills students have fractured in response to the news of the fee increase. McGill is currently in the minority in that were one of the only universities who doesnt have a broad strike mandate, Freedman said. Its because a lot of students are out-of-province or international and dont really understand the history. Instead, McGill has divided by faculty, with each making its own decision whether to institute a student strike. Nathan Boersma, a third-year engineering student at McGill, did not support the striking students. In engineering, the protests have had little effect. The Engineering Undergraduate Society voted against any type of strike or protests, so classes have been continuing on as usual unimpeded, he said. He added classes in other faculties have been disrupted by picketing students, requiring some professors to move their classes in order to continue teaching. A major sticking point in the negotiations is that even with the hikes, Quebec tuition fees would still be lower than the national average of post-secondary education fees throughout the rest of the country. According to Boersma, the average McGill student who is from Quebec currently pays $2,167.80 per year, but with the proposed hike of $1,625, the total would still be below the national average of $5,366. Not even accounting for inflation and the fact that the tuition hike is being implemented over five years, this still puts the tuition being paid by Quebec students below the national average. I think its the sticker shock of a 75 per cent increase that is making everyone freak out. Jim Turk, executive director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers, disagreed. He argued comparing tuition rates in Quebec to those throughout the rest of the country is not the proper way to look at the issue. The national average isnt the appropriate standard. In Ontario, for example, post-secondary students and their families are being gouged excessively, he said. Freedman also noted the opposition to the hikes must be looked at in relation to Quebecs wider cultural framework. The tuition hikes cannot be understood outside of the Quebec context. Im sure a lot of people in Ontario are scratching their heads and are thinking its cheap in comparison to the rest of Canada, he said. People here do not consider the relative cost of tuition, but understand it in relation to the values of Quebec society and the historical struggle to keep education cheap.

anti-racism protesters crash white pride rally

aaron Zaltzman News ediTor A group of self-described anti-fascism protesters spoiled a planned white pride rally on Saturday when they showed up at the Citi Plaza parking garage, resulting in a confrontation and the rallys cancellation. According to Dennis Rivest, media relations officer for the London Police Service, the protesters first congregated in Victoria Park, while the white pride group Blood and Honour planned for a rally at City Hall. [The white pride group] was planning on having a protest, and decided to meet at the parking garage, Rivest explained. There was a confrontation between the two groups, and it was the anti-hate supporters that confronted the white pride groupthere was a bit of an altercation. As a standoff ensued in front of the parking garage, officers attempted to prevent violence as the protesters, who included members of Occupy London and a local anarchist group, surrounded the exits in an attempt to block in the white pride group. We just separated the two groups, made sure that peace and order were maintained, and afterwards, the white pride groups decided not to follow through with their rally, and dispersed, Rivest said. One of the protesters, who refused to give her name, said the groups purpose was to prevent hate from being allowed in the city. Weve come as people who want to stand up against groups like these. Some of what these groups stand for is morally reprehensible to most people, she said. For this event, I think we have a really powerful, positive and brave group that really is ready to put themselves on the line for other human beings. While the majority of the protest was peaceful, both the police and protesters noted some violent incidents. At one point, the protesters damaged a parking garage barrier. Another protester explained one car suspected to be carrying members of the white pride group had its back window smashed in.

FImS introduces certificate focusing on social media

Westerns faculty of information and media studies is launching a new certificate program in digital communication that it says will equip students with the necessary knowledge to navigate the emerging world of social media and user engagement. This is really becoming the main locality for social communication for [young people] and increasingly [organizations] are getting it. Were now seeing, in public service campaigns, that the first things publicized are Twitter hashtags and Facebook addresses,

Nick Dyer-Witheford, associate dean of FIMS and spearhead of the new initiative, explained. The certificate program requires five half-credit electives out of six different choices, including Social Media & Organizations and NetWork: Labour and Profit on Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and Web 2.0. We have one instructor who is specifically very interested in that and what he calls digital semiotics, and indeed the rhetoric of engaging people, Dyer-Witheford explained. The digital communication program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, and applicants across all faculties are en-

couraged to apply, he said. western students gathered in the university community centre atrium saturday evening through sunday morning for westerns relay For Life. the event was an effort to raise money and awareness for the canadian cancer society through a non-stop walka-thon. the evening included live music, inflatable dome dodge ball, food and movies to keep the participants entertained. You get students out whove been affected by cancer, who know people whove been affected by cancer, and people whove never been affected by cancer and theyre all fighting for the same cause, nicole Dalessandro, vice-president of student events for the university students council, said. the event set a record for western both in terms of participants and money raised. seventy-two teams registered for the event and raised $76,228, with thousands more expected to be added to the total. this surpassed westerns goal of $70,000.

Nuisance bylaw could give cops more power white

mason Zimmer GazeTTe sTaff In the wake of the Fleming Drive riot, London city councils Public Safety Committee is planning a public meeting to discuss a nuisance bylaw intended to improve crowd control on private property. Although the details of this bylaw have yet to be passed, one possible effect would enable police to eject non-residents from private properties in the event of dangerous behaviour occurring during a party. Joe Swan, Ward 3 councillor, stressed this is not a confirmed aspect of the bylaw, but merely an option under consideration. While a legal definition of dangerous behaviour remains forthcoming, Swan referred to the overcrowding and raucous behaviour that preceded the Fleming Drive riot as characteristic of what the bylaw would likely curtail.

The goal of the meeting, Swan said, is to help in ensuring the fairness of the law while providing the right tools to improve public safety. megan devlin GazeTTe sTaff A recent joint study from the Centre for International Higher Education and the National Research University Higher School of Economics shows Canadian professors are the highest paid in the world. Researchers found the average Canadian full-time professor makes the equivalent of $68,206 Cdn at the beginning of their career, and $112,900 by the end. The study adjusted to account for different costs of living in the 28 countries studied. This translates into $7,134 per month for Canadian professors, compared to $6,002 in the United States and $5,892 in the United Kingdom. Glen Jones of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and a faculty-member at the University of Toronto, explained the factors behind Canadas high compensation for professors. The vast majority of Canadian university professors belong to labour unions that have played an important role in negotiating salaries, he said. We have also been very concerned about brain drain in Canada and this led to some initiatives that were designed to retain our top faculty and employ top researchers from other countries. Unlike some other countries, most Canadian universities have very similar missions and standards, so there is no clear hierarchy of institutions, Jones continued. For example, there are American universities that are primarily teaching institutions and pay very different salaries than American research universities. However, the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance expressed concern over the high salaries. OUSA understands that you have to pay to attract the best, Patrick Searle, vice-president administration for OUSA, said. But over the past five years weve noticed that salaries have increased substantially while support services have stayed [the same]. With the rising cost of tuition we want to make sure our money is going towards advancements of quality, Searle continued. He explained over the last decade government subsidies have decreased, leading to a greater portion of students tuition money going straight to professors pockets. Back in, say, 1995, there was a 2-to-1 cost-sharing model. So for every two dollars the government put in, one dollar was paid through tuition, he said. Now were at, like, 48-to-52. So students are paying 50 per cent, and the government is paying 50 per cent. Searle added OUSA was also concerned that high salaries do not necessarily translate into higher quality of education, especially because qualifications for teaching at university are not as regulated as high school. Jim Turk, executive director for the Canadian Association of University Teachers, cautioned taking these earning figures at face value. He explained simple fluctuations in currency exchange rates can skew numbers, and that compared to other Canadian professional groups such as lawyers and engineers, salaries of professors have actually been decreasing. In addition, Turk emphasized the report only analyzed full-time professors earnings at a time when universities are increasingly turning to part-time, ill-paid employees.

Another car, which the protesters claimed was being driven by a member of the group, was stopped and confronted by the protesters while exiting the garage before being allowed to leave. Though the anti-fascist group was targeting the Blood and Honour members, much of the anger was also directed at the police, whom some protesters accused of protecting the white pride group. London Police are protecting the neo-Nazis, and have arrested many anti-fascist protesters, another masked protester claimed. [They] have escorted a lot of [the neo-Nazis] out and now theyre out without consequence, and they can rally again. However, Rivest said only one protester had been arrested. Many protesters also chose to conceal their identities for fear of reprisal from the white pride group. Some protesters wore masks, and refused to give their names. Historically, people who have opposed Nazi groups at their rallies have had their houses firebombed, have had their personal lives harmed, a protester said. These are really dangerous people, and a really dangerous thing to be involved in. The Blood and Honour group could not be reached for comment.

Brothels un-banned
In what is being described as a landmark decision, Ontarios top court has legalized brothels, aiming to increase the safety of sex-trade workers. Beginning next year, prostitutes will be able to work legally in brothels, which will operate and be taxed like any normal business. This decision has been made in order to protect what has been deemed extremely dangerous work for these sex workers. In addition to legalizing brothels, the law against hiring drivers and security for the sake of prostitution has also been overturned. One law that was not overturned is communicating for the purpose of prostitution, which will remain illegal. These laws previously served to combat prostitution in general, working under the premise that prostitution was a problem, and that it could be eradicated. But now Ontarios government seems to be accepting that the worlds oldest profession still exists whether or not their laws allow it. Will these laws encourage more people to become prostitutes? And if it does, is this a problem? For now, these laws really only serve to make people who are involved in the industry safer. Like many jobs, the allure of prostitution is the money. And if people want to work as prostitutes, there should be the same laws in place to protect these people as there are for people working other jobs that society might consider to be undesirable. Allowing sex workers to work indoors can only serve to keep them safe, and if anything goes wrong, they will now be able to safely call the police for assistance. The one law that remains intact is the law against communicating for the purpose of prostitution. This is essentially to combat the problem of street walking, and people worry that striking down this law will create an increase in the number of people soliciting sex on the street. At least for now, people seem to be in agreement that this is not something our society wants. The other side of the story is the issue that although this may not encourage more people to become prostitutes, the number of people looking to solicit prostitutes may increase. But again, is this a bad thing? The stigma attached to sex work is powerful, and is something that our society doesnt like to talk about openly. Realistically, these laws can only help improve the safety of sex-trade workers who are routinely facing danger. The Gazette Editorial Board

ryan Hurlbut illusTraTioNs ediTor This weekend, while not technically representing anything special in regards to the calendar year, marked the disappearance of the final, tiny, feeble, miniscule, shred of dignity left on Facebook. And Im not even talking about timeline. Upon logging on to the social networking siteis what I would say if I ever logged outa post on my news feed caught my attention. The post in question contained a picture depicting two doors, one leading me to a lovely blue sky, and the other gaining entrance to what can only be described as the fiery depths of hell. In addition to the doors, the photo contained a caption that stated Like For Heaven. Ignore For Hell. Without bringing up a religious debate, one can only look at this picture and assume the rational decision would be to like it and live a life with the knowledge that a utopian paradise awaits them. While I am highly dubious regarding Gods decision to inspire Shawtyrock Jones to make this post, I am also relieved with the new, simpler entrance exam to heaven, which greatly increases my chance of admission while simultaneously decreasing the amount of effort I have to put in. In all seriousness, the very existence of this picture should disgust everyone who sees it. While Facebook may not be the biggest source of enlightening content, the fact people now feel compelled to create a picture for no reason other than publicizing their profile is disgusting. In essence, this is a shameless beg for imaginary Internet points, or likes. Not only does the picture hold the main premise of directly asking people to like it, but also it does so in a way that tricks devout Christians into sharing it for fear of negative repercussions. While the picture likely has no effect on whether people who view it will ascend into the skies or eternally suffer, it creates pangs of guilt in people who truly believe that they shouldnt shun their beliefs. Posting on a social networking site has essentially become a popularity contest, where those who collect the most likes or shares are the winners, creating a scenario in which people have created posts for the specific purpose of obtaining such. While I can hardly ignore the pure ecstasy that floods my very being when someone acknowledges one of my Facebook posts in a positive way, I am still aware these rewards are essentially meaningless, and thus do not go out of my way to obtain them. By devaluing a post for the sole purpose of receiving these meaningless signifiers, we are only tarnishing the information we receive on a regular basis, and destroying our own sense of sophistication. Some people feel the need to actively shun the post within the comments as a form of retaliation, but this is the wrong thing to do. By attacking the post, people who feel strongly about the subject will retaliate, creating additional discussion and thus further popularizing the original post. The best thing to do when confronted with a post like this is to simply ignore it. While the repercussions seem too great for some, depriving the original creator of the attention that they crave so deeply will only enhance the overall social networking experience.

The New Democratic Party finally has a new leader. Thomas Mulclair has officially been named the leader of party and marks the first time the NDP has an official leader since the death of former leader Jack Layton. The leadership convention was held in Toronto on the weekend, and after reading the reports from the event, it actually seemed pretty entertaining. Highlights included Brian Topps celebrity endorsement from Shirley Douglas, and Peggy Nash having so many people lined up to introduce her that she only had a few minutes to say her speech before she was forced off the stage with blaring pop music. There was even a cyber hack that delayed the vote results. But after all the crazy introductions and virtual attacks, Mulclair earned the victory with 57 per cent of the vote over Topps 40 per cent in the fourth and final round of voting.

Cameron goes under the sea

In what I can only assume was an expedition to find the Heart of the Ocean, Canadian director James Cameron became the first person to complete a solo mission to the bottom of Marianas Trench, the deepest-known point on earth. The Titanic director reached a depth of 11 kilometres below the oceans surface according to National Geographic, who is overseeing the project. From the bottom, Cameron spent his time collecting samples for marine biology research and taking videos and photos. Upon reaching the bottom, Cameron tweeted, Hitting bottom never felt so good. Cant wait to share what Im seeing w/ you. Since returning to the surface Cameron has described the bottom of the ocean as a desolate and foreboding place and has likened it to another planetprobably like the Avatar planet.

Re: Meat Matters (March 20, 2012) To the Editor: Katie Rosemans article touches on a subject that I often find myself considering. In addition to significantly increasing the risk of chronic diseases and cancer, what I find interesting about red meat is our addiction to its consumption. As early as my high school years, I remember places like McDonalds and Burger King were the go-to places for lunch or dinner amongst friends. As we grew older, our tastes became more refined and my friends began to prefer Kelseys, mainly for their selection of meat dishes.

As a Muslim who chooses to consume only halal meat, I often find myself exasperated by my friends insistence on always eating red meat. Indeed, that observation is echoed in the World Health Organizations report Diet, nutrition and the prevention of chronic diseases, which estimates that industrialized nations consumption of meat is more than double the world average and triple the average of developing nations per capita. Overall, I think the preponderance of chronic diseases in Canada and the U.S. is partly rooted in unsustainable eating habits and poor lifestyle decisions, and a simple reassessment of red meats role in our diet could do wonders for our health and well-being. The Canadians stunned the favoured United States team when they defeated them 2-0 at the CONCACAF Mens Olympic Qualifying Tournamentin soccer! The win against the U.S. keeps Canadian dreams of qualifying for the London 2012 Olympics alive. Now the Canadians sit atop their group with El Salvador, who they tied 0-0 in their opening match. The men could qualify for the semi-finals with a win or tie against Cuba. And a win in the semi-finals would send the men to the Olympics for the first time since 1984. Kaitlyn McGrath

Jesica Hurst arts & LIFe eDItor Leaning back with a drink in hand before their show at the Wave on Thursday night, vocalist Martina Sorbara and bassist and producer Dan Kurtz of Dragonette couldnt be more at easeand who could blame them? After working with Martin Solveig on the summer anthem, Hello, the three-piece electronicpop band from Toronto became an international name, giving them even more incentive to push out their third album, set for release in the next few months. The happily married bandmates took some time to chat before getting on stage. You recently released two new songsthe first on your own since 2010. How has the response been? Dan Kurtz: Its been really good. I havent even read one mediocre comment about them. I guess thats maybe because the haters are too boredwe weeded them all out over the first two records. How do these tracks differ from music youve released in the past? DK: Its a lot better, a lot newer. I was just thinking about how much time we spend writing them and recording them, but they actually dont have much to do with us until the three of us have played them together. The songs are much more in our minds at the moment. How was the writing and recording process for the new album? DK: Very long, very sporadic and very agonizing. There were very few periods that were longer than 10 days where we all had time to be in a place, get over jet lag and get back into the writing process. Youve had the opportunity to release quite a few tracks with Martin Solveig. How did this partnership come about? Martina Sorbara: We met on a bus in Australia because we were playing the same festival and the bus was taking us back to the airport. We just started talking and then he was in touch later on. I dont even remember giving him our email. When he wrote us, he was working on a song for Jean Paul Gautier and invited me to sing on it. When it came time for him to actually write his album, he wanted to include us again. Your first album, Galore, had a very promiscuous, female empowering sound. How has your music evolved since then? DK: Shes a little more under our thumb now! MS: Yeah, right! I think its still very she-powered. I think that Im interested in expressing a different version of femininity than what we usually see or hear. I dont relate to what comes out of pop music in terms of the mood and the personality of it, so I like to express a different kind of femininity lyrically. How have you guys stayed grounded after so much success in such little time? DK: We drove a minivan over here, so thats pretty grounded, isnt it? Crowd catches the country wave

Cheryl Stone News feaTures ediTor Performance Openers Setlist Crowd Worth the cash The Wave looked more like a barn dance Thursday night as Dean Brody took the stage on his Dirt Roads Scholar tour. The show opened with bluegrass team The Abrams Brothers taking stage and getting the rowdy crowd going. They played original songs like While You Sleep, an ode to driving around the countryside, and a pop-turned-country cover of Viva la Vida. The band took the Wave off campus and onto the backroads of Southern Ontario. Brody took the stage to cheers, chants and camouflage. The crowd, donning their finest plaid and cowboy hats, quickly sang along with him. The Wave didnt seem prepared for the way country kids party, though, as the crowd was almost too rowdy to enjoy the show. They frequently drowned

out Brodys banter. Non-country fans may have been intimidated by the crowds sheer enthusiasm. The show featured crowd favourites like Dirt Roads Scholar and Big Yellow Blanket. New songs were mixed in and warmly welcomed. Brody didnt miss a beat, going from these party driven hits to softer songs like Wild Flower and Brothers. Brody admitted his record company had reservations about doing a campus tour, however, every campus he had been to had been enthusiastic. Brody hasnt let his time on the road get to himhe seemed as energetic as the crowd. Brody looked at home with the crowd, discussing how his songs were informed by growing up in British Columbia, and how much he loved being home in Canada. He frequently attempted to get closer than the security barrier would allow by leaning over it into the crowd and handing out hugs and high fives, even losing his hat once in the process. Brody ended the night with an encore featuring Canadian Girls, and the crowd left the Wave carrying a bit of country.

Directed by: Gary Ross Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth Based on the bestselling novels by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games takes place in the postapocalyptic world of Panem, ruled by the oligarchic government of the wealthy Capitol and further split into 12 subordinate districts. Serving as punishment for an uprising against the ruling body, each of the districts are forced to submit two teenagers to battle in a televised tournament every year. The competition is bloody and ruthless, producing only one living victor. The story follows rebel heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who volunteers herself for the games following the selection of her sister as tribute. Alongside her male tribute, Peeta Mellark

(Josh Hutcherson), she must travel to the Capitol to participate. Despite being close to two and a half hours long, the film does a good job of pacing. Plot elements are well-used, so one doesnt necessarily have to know the books to understand what is happening this isnt a Harry Potter movie. Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence is a great choice for Katniss. She brings a good deal of depth to the character. Unfortunately, the filmmakers fall into an anti-Twilight vibe where in order to make a strong female character, Peeta and the other male tributes become archetypal and boring. The cinematographer should learn how to hold a camera properly. Using a shaky cameranot even during action scenes but when characters are talking makes several early scenes in the film almost unbearable. The costume design of the people in the Capitol is so over-the-top it looks like Satan spliced Tim Burtons and Lady Gagas DNA.

Unfortunately, the odds are not in favour of the films political messagesit doesnt really say anything substantial about the wealth of the Capitol versus the poverty of the districts. Even with the films satire of reality TV and the glorification of violence, The Hunger Games cannot say much about this problem when its structure itself glorifies violence. The viewer may feel rage towards the society that puts kids in these barbaric games, but the film doesnt effectively comment on the irony that by watching this film, the viewer is like the wealthy members of the Capitol reveling in the slaughter and enjoying the publicized love story between Katniss and Peeta. The Hunger Games really doesnt say anything compelling about its themes. Although it is a good adaptation of the book, its a passable film that only amounts to being a mind-numbing PG-13 Battle Royale.

Seth Haley, the artist behind the project, describes the style as mid-fi synth-wave, slowmotion funk. Contending for the Vanier Cup
after a dominant 2010-11 season that saw the Mustangs narrowly defeat the ottawa gee gees for Yates cup gold, expectations were at an all-time high for the western Mustangs football team. with incoming super rookie tyler Varga making his Mustangs debut and Donnie Marshall having one more year of experience under his belt, the Mustangs were expected to not just defend their Yates cup title, but make it to the Vanier cup as well.

yates Cup loss

after a dominating 7-1 regular season, the western Mustangs hosted the McMaster Marauders for the coveted Yates cup. Despite being the favorites, the Mustangs could not keep up with the eventual Vanier cup MVP, Kyle Quinlan. though Donnie Marshall had an impressive game, throwing for 187 yards, his counterpart, Quinlan, dominated the Mustangs, passing for an incredible 275 yards and rushing for an additional 103.

tyler Varga
It is hard to pick anybody else for this honour. Varga took the oua by storm this year. In his first game in the oua, Varga rushed for three touchdowns against the waterloo warriors. Varga scored 15 touchdowns in seven games in his rookie seasontying him with alumni Fabian rayne for sixth all time for rushing touchdowns in a season. with four more years of eligibility left in his Mustangs career, it is scary to think what Varga can accomplish.

Homecoming win
this years Homecoming game saw the western Mustangs demolish the York Lions in front of a packed tD waterhouse stadium. on a day full of school spirit, the Mustangs represented western with pride in the 48-23 win. nathan riva and tyler Varga ran all over the Lions for a combined 334 yards and five touchdowns on 48 attempts, while Brian Marshall chipped in with 64 receiving yards and one touchdown in the win.

Promising
the future looks bright for the Mustangs. though nathan riva will be parting ways with western, with donnie Marshall and Varga returning, the Mustangs running game will still be a problem for every other team in the ontario university athletics. If the Mustangs defence can somehow find a way to replace what offensive lineman Matt norman brought to the table, they should be making another appearance in the Yates cup finals next season.

Not quite enough

though they were dominant all season long, the Mustangs failed to get the job done when it counted most. though the Mustangs lethal running game has picked opponents apart all season, the McMaster Marauders just seemed to get the better of them in the Yates cup finals. expect greg Marshalls Mustangs to come back with a vengeance next year.

Having finished the 2010 season with a silver medal, the Mustangs baseball team had their sights set on the top prize. with five all-stars from the previous year, the Mustangs were certainly a force to be reckoned with. with a steady offence, great pitching and a seasoned coach, the Mustangs were not dreaming out of their league. Barring injury, the Mustangs were probably going to find themselves atop the ontario university athletics standings.

oUa finals loss

with expectations so high, losing the oua championships was definitely a blow to the Mustangs season. going into the bottom of the eighth, the Mustangs held a 4-3 lead over the university of toronto Varsity Blues, only to squander that leadand the championship with an 8-4 loss. the Mustangs had also defeated the Varsity Blues twice out of three opportunities in the regular season, so this loss stings that much more.

Shawn robinson
only one Mustangs player this year was named to the oua all-star team, and that was shortstop shawn robinson. Having only committed four errors the entire season, robinson was a stalwart defensively at a key position, as well as being a spark for the Mustangs powerful offence. Having led the team in stolen bases and runs with 11 and 17 respectively, robinson was the most valuable cog in the Mustang machine.

10-game win streak

as the favourite to top the oua standings, the Mustangs didnt disappoint during the regular season. Finishing with a regular season record of 14-7, the Mustangs crown jewel was a 10game win streak that saw them climb to more familiar ground in the standings. Included in this streak were four straight games of nine or more runs scored. the great offensive output during this streak was also flanked by amazing defence, as they only allowed over two runs once.

Future is looking bright

the Mustangs have a very strong system in place that has managed to be fruitful for many seasons, so why stop now? with head coach Mike Lumley returning, as well as a slew of players, the Mustangs should be in a similar position next year. Lumley also has pulled in strong recruiting classes in the past that have led to this sustained success, so look for the Mustangs to continue that trend going into next year.

Fell short
Having had a relatively successful season by any measure, the Mustangs fell short of their ultimate goal of winning the oua championship. Having returned with a slew of veteran players, the Mustangs were expected to contend for the title, but they walked away with silver around their necks. a B+ seems appropriate for the team and expectations for the future should stay similarly high.
