2 0 1 1 INTRODUCTION
We believe that collaboration between the public and private sectors, combined with the power of sciences and technology, can help researchers as they work to solve the most urgent global challenges in medicine, environmental, engineering, education and many other fields. In partnership with distinguished scientists, researchers, academics and educators, we have to develop and create capability in sciences and technologies that have the potential to strengthen and accelerate advances in important areas of research. The work is aimed at addressing problems in industrial problem, global health, food and water supplies, natural disasters, and climate research. Basic science plays important role in the development of advance industry, for example biotechnology, material sciences, informatics, computer and nano technology. Technology in context is the science of industrial arts. It is the systematic application of various branches of knowledge to practical tasks. Science assumes greater practical value to mankind in technology. ICOWOBAS is organized as implementation of existing collaboration between Airlangga University and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in order to promote the development of sciences and their prospect of application in industry. The programs of this activity are the scientific program involves the presentation of paper and poster in the area of chemistry, biology, physics, and mathematics and their applications. It also conducts the workshop program that will be presented the current issues in biological product. Thus it will invite many participants as academic researcher, scientist, industrial practitioners, industrial professionals, government officers, students and other participants. The meeting intends to bring together researchers, scientists, and scholars to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and research results in related fields and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted.

This activity is aimed for a. c r e a t i n g a n e n a b l i n g environment for research and development in Science and Technology b. enhancing human resources and performance incentives provided by the key public science and technology institutes c. disseminating research in various field of natural sciences, especially those with promising prospect in the developmental of science-base technology in the future d. improving national and international network e. promoting interdisciplinary research in science and technology f. transferring knowledge and experience from academic research and industry to students.
