Diagram 1 shows a water tank that supplies water to a block a flats. The water flows to each unit in the flat due to water pressure. Rajah 1 menunjukkan tangki air yang membekalkan air untuk 1 blok rumah pangsa. Air mengalir ke setiap unit flat tersebut kerana tekanan air. Water tank

Diagram 1 / Rajah 1 (a) What is meant by pressure ? Apakah yang dimaksudkan dengan tekanan? [ 1 mark] (b) A water tank with a height of 3.0 m is fully filled with water. Calculate the water pressure at the base of the water tank. [Density of water = 1 000 kg m-3]

A student carries out an experiment to investigate the relationship between the extension, e, of a spring and the mass of its load, m. The apparatus is set up as shown in Diagram 1.1. The original length of the spring, lo is shown in Diagram 1.2.

The load of 50 g is hung from the end of the spring. The length of spring, l is measured by using a metre rule. The procedure of the experiment is repeated by using mass, m = 100g, 150g, 200g and 250g. Diagram 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 show the actual corresponding readings of the length of spring, l . (a) For the experiment described above, identify: (i) The manipulated variable [ 1 mark ] (ii) The responding variable [ 1 mark ] (iii) The constant variable [ 1 mark ]

(b) (i) Based on Diagram 1.2, determine the original length of spring. lo= . [ 1 mark ] (ii) Base on Diagram1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6, determine the length of spring l, and their corresponding masses, m. In each case, calculate extension, e, where e = l - lo. Tabulate the values of m and e in the space below

[ 5 marks ] (c) On the graph paper, plot a graph of e against m [ 5 marks ] (d) Based on your graph, state the relationship between e and m [ 1 mark ] (e) State one precaution that should be taken to improve the results of this experiment. .. [ 1 mark ]
