The user has to select the "LTE" signal type, once the LTE signal is selected the user can define the specific following parameters: - the Tx/Rx bandwidth of the e-nodeB (the bandwidth according to the number of resource blocks used):
When the bandwidth is selected the "Total number of resource blocks", the "Total number of Sub- carriers" and the "Subcarrier Spacing" are automatically updated in the "Channels" tab according to the 3GPP tables:
Parameters in the "e-nodeB" tab : The user will define here the traffic parameters of the station such as the "% Ref Signal" (which represents the percentage of power dedicated to the reference signal channel or the "pilot channel") and the "%PDSCH" which represents the percentage of power

LTE functions in ICS telecom dedicated to the traffic channels). Note that the rest of the percentage power is dedicated to the other common channels (paging, synchronization, ). "DL Kbit/s" and "UL kbits/s" are used to define the capacity of the station.

LTE/Handover
LTE/Handover /Neighbour : This function is populating the neighbour list of each activated e-nodeB. This function includes the handover intra-system (LTE<->LTE) and inter-system (LTE<->WiMAX or LTE<->UMTS or LTE<->GSM). o "Default handover margin (255= from station parameters) (dB)" is the HO margin used between LTE stations. o "Handover margin LTE<->UMTS (255= from station parameters) (dB)" is the HO margin used between LTE stations and UMTS stations. o etc
Note that a station is considered as "LTE" if the signal type of the station is "LTE" (idem for WiMAX, UMTS and GSM) Once the calculation is done the neighbor list is automatically updated in the "e-nodeB setup" tab of each station:

LTE functions in ICS telecom LTE/Handover /Neighbour report : This function generates the neighbour report resulting from the neighbor list established for each e-nodeB. LTE/Handover /Handover map : This function allows draws a Handover map (intra and inter system): o Handover map option: This option computes all possible combinations of handover for each activated LTE station according to the neighbor list attached to each e-nodeB. o Soft Handover option : This option draws the soft handover map of a given LTE station (Station ref. #). The handover areas are computed according to the neighbor list attached to the reference e-nodeB. Hard Handover option: This option draws the hard handover map of a given LTE station (Station ref. #). The handover areas are computed according to the neighbor list attached to the reference e-nodeB.

LTE/SNIR Maps
SNIR (PDSCH) : This option draws a SNIR map dedicated to the PDSCH (DL) traffic channel. SNIR (PDSCH) (dB) = C (dBm)/RSSI (dBm), with : "C (dBm)" : The power received for the wanted PDSCH traffic channel in DL. "RSSI (dBm)" or "Received Signal Strength Indicator": The total received power from all sources, including co-channel serving and non-serving cells, adjacent channel interferences, thermal noise... (3GPP TS 36.214 V8.2.0). This option can be used in ICS telecom to display the map of traffic as shown below :

Example of traffic map in LTE (Please note that the CQI/Throughput table defined in the user palette in this example is not based on vendor or 3GPP standards but is only to illustrate a traffic map) "RSRQ": This option draws a RSRQ map (dB) (Reference Signal Received Quality) defined as the ration between the best RSRP and the RSSI. The function displays a SNIR map of the pilot channel.

- Global noise rise method : This option computes an SNIR map dedicated to the PUSCH traffic channel (UL) via a noise rise factor (dB). With this method the user has to define the Noise Rise (dB) from which the SNIR dedicated to the PUSCH channel will be computed on each pixel. - Subscriber distribution method (Monte Carlo) : With this method, the generation of subscribers on the service area is a mandatory. Once the parenting is done, a map of SNIR based on the PUSCH signal transmitted by the subscribers can be calculated via a distribution method based on Monte Carlo method. The user can specify the number of pass(es) used in the process. Note that the nominal power defined in the subscriber parameter box is considered as the power of the PUSCH channel (UL traffic channel).

LTE/Parenting
This function connects the LTE subscribers to the stations according to the following default rules : - In downlink : * the RS received power must be greater than the predefined threshold (as defined in the Threshold (dBuV/m) parameter of the subscriber parameter box); * the SNR must be greater than the predefined minimum C/N+I required (as defined in the req C/N+I parameter of the e-nodeB setup tab); * the DL capacity of the station can afford the subscriber's demand.
- In uplink : * the received power must be greater than the threshold defined in the e-nodeB station (as defined in the Rx threshold (dBuV/m) parameter f the e-nodeB setup tab); * the UL capacity of the station can afford the subscriber's demand.
Two methods can be used : connection according to the best server or the nearest server received.
At the end of the calculation a report is automatically generated. This report gives the repartition of connections on each station.

LTE functions in ICS telecom - Options: o o Connect orphan only: If this option is checked, the parenting will be compute just for the orphan subscribers (subscribers not yet connected). Do not connect if subscriber outside BS sector (start/end): This option This option allows you to accept parenting if the subscriber is in the area of the e-nodeB defined by Sector start and Sector end (e-node B parameter box). modulation and the RS signal level received. If this option is checked, the subscriber traffic factor will be set according to the DL SNR, the UL received field strength level associated to the modulation.
o Adaptive modulation: This option allows to offer the maximum bit rate according to the best
Parameters of the adaptive modulation: Delta (dB)/ req.C/N+I (DL), delta (dB) /threshold, traffic factor and the modulation associated.
o Fixed modulation: This option allows to offer the maximum bit rate according to the best
modulation and the RS signal level received. If this option is checked, the subscriber traffic factor will be set according to the DL SNR, the UL received field strength level associated to the modulation.

In case of SFN LTE networks, this generic feature can be used, with specific parameters. The guard interval (s) and the unable symbol (s) dedicated to the MBSFN network (with short Cyclic Prefix or Long Cyclic Prefix) are integrated in standard predefined tables.
