For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, of Christ: Ephesians 4:12

Olortegui News
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15 Last month while in Australia, we received the sad news that a dear friend and accountability partner passed away in a tragic airplane crash. Mr. Tom Coble was the head deacon at Harvest Baptist Church in Burlington, NC. He was a local businessman and founder of Coble Trench Safety Inc., a husband, daddy, papaw, grandpa, son, brother, uncle and friend. Mr. Coble was a passionate pilot and served the Lord as Dr. Jerry Falwells pilot. The Lord allowed our paths to cross in 2007, since then he has been a great source of encouragement (especially during our season of trials after our car accidents). His words of wisdom and accountability have been a blessing to me during the birth of PathWay College Outreach Ministry. Last year, Mr. Coble assisted us in the delivery of our first conference with Answers in Genesis.

Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant... Prayer Prompters

During our last phone conversations he encouraged me to expand PathWay to other universities around us by saying: Santiago, we have to reach those universities Mr. Coble was a man of vision, but if I could describe him with one word I would say: he was committed to the furtherance of the gospel. In our Christian walk there are no accidents just divine appointment. On the day of my departure to Australia, I was on the phone with him planning to meet on my arrival back to North Carolina. Today, Mr. Coble is rejoicing in the presence of our Savior and Lord; no more sorrows no more pain. I will miss him, but at the same time I will rejoice and praise the Lord for the privilege of meeting another one of His servants. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Is night life important to college students?
When choosing their college, students consider the college's night life to be an important factor in where they go to school. Many of the off-campus parties are themed, such as pirate, roll in the hay, highlighter, ABC, toga and much more. Also, fights are extremely rare since most off-campus houses are Greek-affiliated or affiliated with other student organizations. Duke, UNCChapel Hill, and Guilford College are all very close, offering Elon students a chance to get away for the weekend if needed. Here are some quotes from students about a local university's night life.

Ev-i-dence: noun: that which tends to prove or disprove something; ground for belief; proof. When we think about evidence, we tend to relate this word to a series of pieces of a puzzle that when they are uncovered and put together, they help to solve a crime or foul play.

have had over 39 students attend our Bible studies. Our weekly attendance has increased to 14 youth every Thursday evening.

Student A: ...On the weekends

there are fraternity parties, but they are normally over crowded ... The buckets/juice at these parties are extremely sketchy, and I have heard of some fraternities putting Xanax, ruffies [Rohypnol], or Nyquil into the juice that they make/serve. If you want a drink or a beer from the keg, you will probably have to wait parts about the parties is, as hard as the school parties and drinks, I feel like the students really look out for each other. If you're really drunk walking across campus, someone will help you if you need it youre over 21. Even though with a decent fake you could probably get in anyways, and there are constant frat parties going on throughout the week. This is by no means a dull nightlife dont get busted very often. Cops can only come into a house if they see a kid leaving it who is obviously drunk. I go to parties every weekend, and I have only been to one that was busted by the cops. No one got in trouble. They just told everybody to leave.

We are excited to hear from pastors in churches close to universities that see the importance of a college ministry like ours. As a matter of fact, we have requests from churches to help them and coach them on how to start a college ministry in universities like While getting my training in forensics (long Duke University, Wake Forest University ago in Australia), a professor used to tell us Except the LORD build the house, they labour (in Winston-Salem), East Carolina ...forensic evidence is like pieces of a University (Greenville, NC) and bridge that when it is put together properly, it in vain that build it: Appalachian State (Boone, NC). will help a judge to have the confidence to except the LORD keep walk across it and make good findings the city, the watchman Our team will be in North Leverett Likewise, our Christian life is and should be waketh but in vain. (Massachusetts), at the end of the summer, helping one of our supporting the evidence of a redeemed life that this Psalms 127:1 churches to organize a program to reach world needs. students as the University of Mass. The events that have taken place in our lives, from the Lord willing, we will be going on a mission trip to Paris, car accidents to the birth of PathWay (even how our visas France this coming summer. We already have received were approved) have been evidence of the Lords plan for requests from two other countries to bring college our lives. Even our financial support and ministry support students for the next few years. I have been talking to a is progressively growing. Three of our board members young college sophomore who would like to do an who are pastors have said continuously that the events in internship in another country and help reach college our lives and in the ministry have been evidence to them students. that the Lord entrusted us with this ministry to college students. The evidence of ministry needs are undeniable and We also see the evidence on what the Lord is doing with that reveals a re-occurring finding: workers are needed! PathWay. Since we started our meetings at Elon, we We need missionaries willing to serve in America.

Finally after 7 years, in January, we had the blessed opportunity to return to Australia. We were excited to be able to see family again as well as report to our supporting churches in Sydney. However, our main objective was to attend an interview at the U.S. Consulate for new visas to return to the United States in order to serve with PathWay. During our stay in Sydney, our friends and teammates Serena and Regenia Bowman came to visit us as well as attend our interviews and our supporting churches.

However, at the time of the interview, the consulate opened our papers and stated, College ministry? Well, let me tell you. I came to know the Lord in Texas, because of a college ministry. We had meals provided and Bible studies. Those were a great blessing to me Today my daughter is a youth leader in my church here in Sydney so dont worry. What you guys are doing is good and your visas are approved What a blessing!!! I was in Sydney for 3 weeks, and during that time, I was able to visit 2 of our supporting churches, Glorious Hope Baptist and In His Grace Christian Fellowship. At the same time, we were able to reconnect with several of our missionary friends and have been encouraged to see how the Lord is using them in the Land Down Under.

In regards to our visas, once at the consulate, there were 2 windows for interviewers, and we could hear every single interview from the waiting area. In one window, all visas were getting denied and at another window most visas were getting approved. Our prayer was: Lord, if you want us back in the USA we will know that if our visas get approved. If you dont want us to return it is Ok, but please do not send us to the window where visas are getting denied. After some waiting period, we were called for our interviews. Guess where they called us? Yes, to the window where the visas were getting denied.

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Psalm s119:9

When most people talk about the college experience, you cant help but think about the freedom that a college student experiences when he/she is outside of the classroom. One student put it this way, the college experience is experimenting and experiencing new things...the people who didnt party in collegefailed at life.* Yes, partying is the most familiar element of the college experience, but what happens in the classroom? Generally, college students are exposed to a Gnostic culture and humanistic atmosphere while in the classroom. Freedictionary.com defines humanism as a system of thought that rejects religious beliefs and centers on humans and their values, capacities, and worth and it defines Gnosticism as the conviction that matter is evil and that knowledge is more important than faith In other words, our students are exposed continuously to a culture that influences a hedonistic lifestyle without place to God. As a graduate of a liberal arts college, I was exposed to this college culture. The influence of liberal ideology by college professors can lead our youth to doubt their faith in God. Can a professor have that much influence over our youth? The answer is yes! When exposed to liberal ideology inside the classroom, and then combined with the experience of liberty from parental supervision, our youth easily fall under the peer pressure of experiencing lascivious behavior. Sadly, many abandon their faith in Christ during their college years. There is a need on campuses for a ministry devoted to providing a strong biblical foundation to students and that is why PathWay College Ministry was born. The weekly Bible studies, the daily devotions for our students, prayer time, tract distribution, outreach activities and discipleship program, have been established to help Christian college students grow in knowledge of Gods Word, and to lead non-Christian college students to trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Recently, one student said, Im not ready spiritually to participate in a missions trip. I know I need to improve in certain areas before I am mature enough to go. This conviction is a result of God working through our programs, and we praise the Lord for using PathWay to impact our students in this way! This instance is the college experience that is pleasing to God. Please pray that the Lord will continue to use this ministry to be the college experience for more students.

Final Thoughts
Jackie and I and the PathWay ministry team are very grateful to God for the gift of you in our lives! Your friendship, prayers, words of wisdom, notes of encouragement and support have been a tremendous blessing to us and our ministry team. Many blessings for you, enjoy your time with family and friends; and together thank God for His blessings in our lives. Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. 1 Samuel 7:12
