Sample Essay on Personal Goals

Everyone should have goals when they are striving to achieve a specific task. A good example of when goals are important to have is when people attend college. Therefore, I have developed three personal goals that I consider important in achieving during my time here at the University of Phoenix. First is the goal of meeting other people that have the same careers that I do. Secondly, I would like to diversify myself using education, thus making me a better rounded individual. Third, and finally, I would like to receive my Bachelors in Science with a degree in Criminal Justice. With the goals that I have listed, I feel that it will benefit my career and educate me further in the criminal justice field. Firstly, my goal of meeting other people that have the same career interests as I do or have already been in the police field. In order to achieve this target, I am going to talk to other individuals that have already worked for a police agency. Also, if they are willing to talk to me about past experiences they can give me tips and other information that they have learned and are willing to help other people learn from their mistakes. Furthermore they will be able to give me ideas regarding what it will take for me to get my foot in the door in the Criminal Justice field. I feel that I will not have a problem talking to people that already work in the field because I have learned that people in the police force are friendly and are willing to help others because assisting others is what this career entails. For that reason, meeting others that have the same career ambitions as I do makes this goal an extremely important one. My second goal of becoming more diverse and more rounded will make me a better person. Education is what runs the world and moves our economy. In todays society, education is incredibly important and if you are educated, you will be given more respect than those who are less educated. Without it, we would not be able to accomplish the many tasks society needs completed in order to survive. Furthermore, I would not be where I am or who I am today without the education I have received. Due to my previous instruction, I believe that I have achieved a great deal in life and wish to further my schooling, and thus be able to achieve higher aims in my future. Furthermore, some of the personal growth goals that I have set for myself will require a higher level of education and the knowledge that the University of Phoenix will give me will help me to achieve my aspirations. With the education, along with the path they have set for me, I will receive my Bachelors in Science in Criminal Justice. My third and final goal is to receive my B.S. in Criminal Justice. I will be able to achieve this degree by attending the classes that the University has set forth and my own commitment to completing them. By doing these things, I will receive the degree that will not only put me on the right track to my future, but also lead me beyond the career goals that I have set for myself. On the other hand, if I were to stay with my Associate of Arts in Science degree in General Business that I already have, I would achieve the career goals that I have already set. However, if I were to realize this ambition, it would give me the option to go beyond what I have already established and it is always a good idea to have those options open. It will give me the option of moving up in ranks in criminal justice field that would not be possible if I stayed with what I have right now. Therefore, I will achieve the goals that I have set forth for the growth of my future.

Goals are immensely important to have and everyone should have them written down if they want to be successful. Without writing them down, they would only be notions and most likely would only achieve ideas, not goals. As a result, I have written down the goals I spoke of above and will reach them. Meeting other people in my career field, becoming a well rounded individual, and receiving my Criminal Justice degree are important to my future. With these goals, I will attain my educational goals at the University of Phoenix and it will set me up to accomplish my personal career aspirations that I have set for my future. Furthermore, if I keep on track, my future will look bright and I will have an exciting life in the years to come.
