On the year 872 AD1, a philosopher, scientist, cosmologist, logician and a magician was born to the world.

Al Farabi, or his real name Ab Nar Muammad ibn Muammad Frb1 was born at either Fryb in Khorasan (in modern Iran)1 or Frb on the Jaxartes (Syr Darya) in modern Kazakhstan1. He died in the year of 950 AD2 in Damascus3. His family was a noble family as his father held a military post at the Samanidcourt2. There are many variations of the basic information of al-Afarabis origin suggest that they are not recorded during his lifetime and the fact is based on hearsay and guesses 1. These results to two origins theory, Iranian and Turkish origin theory. His contributions comprises in the field of alchemy, logic, music, philosophy, physics and psychology. Other than that his main interest is metaphysics, political philosophy, logic, music, sciences, ethics, mysticism and epistemology. He is regarded as second to Aristotle in knowledge as his title the Second teacher. His contribution to the field of logic is he discussed the topic of future contingents, the number and relation of the categories, the relation between logic and grammar and many other non Aristotelian form of logic. Although he is a Aristotelian logician, he added a few non Aristotelian in his work. He also the one who propose the idea of categorizing logic into idea and proof. As he is a Aristotelian logician, he made many commentary on Aristotle works such Poetics4.

Al Farabi also involves in the area in music. He wrote a book on music titled Kitab alMusiqa(the Book of Music)5. This book is a reality study of the theory of Persian music of his days. In this book, he describes philosophical principles about music, its qualities and its influences. He also made a writings on music therapy where he discussed the therapeutic effect of music on the soul in Meanings of the Intellect6. Philosophy is one of the main area that alFarabi famous of. He is the founder of his own school of early Islamic philosophy known as Farabism or Alfarabism. This is latter overshadowed by Ibnu Sinas philosophy. Alfarabis philosophy deviate from the philosophy of Plato and Aristotle because he more focused on modernity in which he move from metaphysics to methodology. He also discovers the limits of human knowledge7. In philosophy also, he also wrote commentary on Aristotle work, The Republic in his writing Al-Madina al-Fadila8. He also contribute into the field of Physics, he is the first person to carry out the first experiment on Vacuum9. In which he concluded that airs volume can expand to fill available space.

In conclusion, alFarabi, was a great muslim and a great Islamic philosopher. We as must follow his footsteps and revive back the glory days of Islam by acquiring knowledge unconditionally only for Allah SWT. As stated in al Quran in Surah Al-Mujadilah Verse 11, Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge
