SCIENCE WITH MRS. LEE

week students finished up their adventures in Medieval Europe by taking their final Middle Ages exam. They will be traveling to the other side of the world after break to Latin America. Our historians and world travelers will be discovering the world of the Inca's, Mayan's and Aztec's during our visit. The class is also wrapping up our time in ancient Europe by traveling to the Detroit Institute of Arts to look at the actual artwork that was talked about in class! A BIG THANK YOU to all who came to the field trip!! We couldn't have done it without our drivers and chaperone's. Thank you for everything and have a wonderful break!

Students have started and almost ended a journey on energy. They have studied potential and kinetic energy, discussed the Law of Conservation of Energy, and even worked with flaming cheeseballs to demonstrate how energy is transferred. Scientists will continues their journey after the break with a lab of heated and cooled liquids. They will then move on to waves, sound, and light. 4.0 Enrichment opportunity Design a roller coasterstudents can pick up a packet outside of Mrs. Lees homeroom. It will be due when students return from the break. All scientist need to document their coaster building with photos.

MATH

Box Tops for Education

Students in all three rotations will be bringing home their completed and corrected math packets as well as their math books. While they do not have an "assignment" they are encouraged to redo problems in their packet that they got wrong and to study. All three rotations will be reviewing on the Monday of our return and they will then take tests on Tuesday. It is imperative that they do not go ten days without looking at their math. After the test, the rotations will continue our journey through geometry. Third Rotation will begin working with circles and three dimensional figures, second rotation will begin working with congruency and transformations, and first rotation will begin working with polygons. Have a great break.

The Teachers of South Canton

All homeroom teachers have been working hard on Moral Focus with students. They have been having discussions with students, creating activities, and working towards the goal of living up to the expectations set in the student handbook. Lately, teachers have been engaging students in the discussion centering on all of their teachers. All 6 th graders are realizing that they have more than just three teachers. Each and every person that enters this building becomes their teacher. This means that everyone needs to work on respecting all teachers even if it is not their homeroom teacher. Please help us to reinforce our Moral Focus topics by discussing the Moral Focuses at home and asking how they are using them each and every day.

Each teacher has a collection box in their classroom for Box Top labels. Please continue to send in those TOPS! Thank you to all of the families who have already taken the time to cut the box tops. We appreciate your support and time!
