Easter is the feast of all feasts! For me, it is even more meaningful than Christmas! Try to imagine this: you were joyful at the birth of your child. What if your child died, then after three days the child come back to life. The joy would certainly be unimaginable and immeasurable! This is the joy of Easter! And this is the good news to all of us, especially those among us whose loved ones have already departed: they are alive! The proof? Our Lords resurrection! Whats the proof that Jesus rose from the dead? I questioned that before when I was growing up. But as many people have realized, I found the answer with the lives of the apostles their witnessing: how they lived and how they died! According to the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles, they lived like brothers and sisters, loving, helping, forgiving, and united to one another in the name of Christ! How they died? They chose to die a martyrs death: stoned, beheaded, crucified, flayed alive, burned at the stakeif they were spreading a lie that Jesus rose from the dead, would they be willing to die a horrible death for the sake of a lie? Think about that! But of course this is a matter of faith. And I always say: for those who believe, no proof is needed. For those who do not believe, no proof is sufficient! And the most wonderful news of all: Jesus death and resurrection saves us and restores us back to God! Thats why we are called an Easter People because of our Easter faith! Without Christs resurrection, we will not be here! Now the challenge is on us! God calls us to live and, if opportunity provides, die like the Apostles and many Christians did! We are called to be His witnesses! I thank all the people who made our Holy Week celebrations successful and meaningful! For Girard: special thanks to Joan Davied and all volunteers to be lectors, EMEs, gift bearers, sacristans; to Faith Paoni and all our altar servers especially to Lucas Gorentz; to Nancy Hofer and those who helped her decorate our church, and to Ruth Duling and all our musicians and choir; to Michelle Puckett and our CYM kids for the Easter Egg Hunt! I thank the 12 volunteers for the washing of the feet! Thanks for the humility!
