St.

Michael, the Archangel


St. Michael, the Archangel was a patron of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police, and sickness.

Facts
St. Michaels Feast Day is September 29th. St. Michael is the leader of the forces of Heaven. St. Michael defeated Satan and the forces of hell in the Holy Scripture. In the New Testament Michael leads Gods armies against Satans forces in the Book of Revelation and defeats them. In the Old Testament the Prophet Daniel describes Michael as the protector of Israel.

Facts
Prophet Daniel also states that during the time of the End , At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. The Book of Revelation also describes when Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, Satan, the dragon fought back. The dragon was not strong enough to defeat Michael so the dragon lost his place in Heaven. After this conflict, God punishes Satan and is thrown to Earth, where he still tries to lead the whole world astray.

St. Michael was called Archangel because he was the prince of all other angels. The view of Michael as a healer continued into Rome, where a giant plague spread into the castle of Castel SantAngelo. Michael asked all of the sick people to spend a night together in the church. They all did and the next day they all were cured! St. Michael has four roles to play as a member of the Church.

St. Michaels Roles


His first role is leader of The Army of God and the leader of heavens forces in their triumph against the powers of hell. His second role is being the Angel of Death. In this role, at the hour of death, Michael descends and gives each soul a chance to redeem itself before passing. In his third role Michael weighs souls in his perfectly balanced scales. In his final role ,St. Michael, is the guardian of the Church.

In medieval Christianity, Saint Michael, with Saint George, became the patron saint of chivalry and is now also considered the patron of police officers and the military.
The Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel , also known as Michaelite Fathers, is religious order of the Roman Catholic Church who worship Saint Michael and was founded in 1897.

In many descriptions Michael is represented as an angelic warrior, fully armed with a helmet, a sword, and a shield.

Conclusion
I have chosen St. Michael as my saint because I believe that when any of my friends or family have gone to war that he was watching over them protecting them from any harm or danger. I believe that he also cured us from sickness whenever my family or I got sick. St. Michael gives me courage to be strong. That is why I chose Saint Michael the Archangel.
