A Brief Introduction to Venerable Bhikkhu Vpasama

1. Ven. Bhikkhu Vpasama is a Chinese Theravada monk ordained by Burmese Theravada

Sangha. He is a disciple of Ven. Baddanta Zagarabhiwuntha, who passes on the lineage of Ven. Ledi Sayadaw. Bhikkhu Vpasama is the chief mentor of Original Buddhism Society. His Sangha, the Middle-Path Sangha, follow the practice of the Original Buddhism. 2. He has studied and practiced the Buddhas doctrine for nearly forty years. He is knowledgeable in each lineage of Chinese Bodhisattva Path, and has deep comprehension of the fundamental thoughts behind the three Indian Bodhisattva Schools, Praj, Yogcya, and Tathgata-garba. In addition, he has an extensive teaching experience in the thoughts of Praj-Pramits Sutras and Mdhyamik, as well as Chinese Zen meditation. 3. His main objectives in the exploration and practice of Buddhism are to investigate and discover the original doctrines of Early Buddhism, make every effort to advocate and practice the Buddha Skyamunis original teachings, meditation methods, and the stages of the Awakening path. Based on the seven categories of the Sutras, namely causations, nutriment, noble truths, realms, five darkness(aggregates), six sense bases, and paths, in the Chinese translated Samyukta-gama and Theravadin Samyutta-Nikya from the first Buddhist Council, he has correctly restored the meditation method for enlightenment insight into the 12 factors of Correlative Conditioning. It has been misunderstood and disappeared for nearly 2300 years. The stages of enlightenment path appears again based on the Buddhas teaching, the Only path for enlightenment to benefit self and others. 4. He has always been teaching Original Buddhism and meditation to preach the 12 factors of Correlative Conditioning and Four Noble Truths, One-way path for enlightenment and Humanistic Buddhism. He has published books on The Profound Meaning of Correlative Conditioning, Insight Meditation Method, The Stages of Practicing the Awakening Path, and Investigation of the Awakening Path versus Emptiness. 5. Bhikkhu Vpasama does not accept money offerings, not even through a servant. He emphasizes the avoidance of unwholesome mental states and places the importance on sincere self-effort, without taking short-cuts in practice. When speaking of Buddhist truths, he always gives detailed references to the sutra passages from which his teachings can be found. He gives instructions on meditation for sitting, walking, and lying down. He is also skilled tuning breath and posture during meditation. He has been itinerating around to establish meditation centers of Original Buddhism, to promote the true teaching of the Buddha, and to assure the Sangha communities of Original Buddhism in the U.S.A., Taiwan, and Malaysia.
