Have all students score above 100 Objectives: 1. (Psychomotor) Students will be able to participate in regulation length games of bowling. Students will be able to correctly set up the pins after they have completed their turn. Students will be able to participate in mini games of bowling to work on strategy. 2. (Cognitive) Students will be able to verbalize the different key terms of each lesson. The students will be able to correctly track their scores. Students will be able to critically think about how to knock over the most pins. 3. (Affective) Students will be able to appropriately participate in activities that develop proper skills and techniques for bowling. Development of Activity: Covering the rules and common terminology involved in bowling Positioning on the pins for the first frame Cover scoring and how to add spares and strikes into regular addition The Swing phase Hand and finger position in and on the ball Arm position for beginning, swing, and release Swing and follow through Release of the ball Lower and upper body approach Aiming for strikes and ability to pick up spare Strategy for strikes Mini games that work on picking up the spare Games Plans for General Class Organization: Students are at the age that they have been introduced to bowling in prior years. I plan on combining multiple objectives at once. I plan to cover stance, swing, and grip at once. The class will participate in bowling mini games. The games will help the students work on their aim. Students will work on situational bowling in these activities. Students will work on their ability to pick up spares on their second throw. This will help build the complete

game for the students. A mini game that will be included is Pyramid. This is where you have to knock down all 10 pins then remove 1 and so on until the person gets to 1 pin. Once they have completed this they have to build the pyramid back up to 10 pins. Students will then participate in regulation games that include 10 frames. They will keep individual scores when playing as singles and combine multiple scores when playing as a team. Equipment and Facilities: Open gym space Tape for pin positioning 5-10 bowling balls 50 Bowling Pins 6 Side lanes Score Sheets Pencils Learning Material and Resources: Mahomet-Seymour High School has decided to not print any paper copies because P.E. is not in the GPA so the copies tend to not be taken seriously by the students and end up in the garbage. I will however give the students different websites to visit. Safety Precautions: 1. NO Horseplay 2. Do not stand behind someone who is bowling. Students will have to stay at least 5 feet behind the person with the ball. 3. We will use a rubber ball. 4. Stay clear of the lane when others are bowling. 5. Do not throw the ball when someone is setting up the pins. 6. Do not throw the ball into another lane. 7. Pay attention. 8. Be responsible for you. 9. Stay in the designated area. 10. Stay on your feet at all times. A ball or pin could ricochet and hit you. Evaluation Procedures: Students are given the chance to obtain 15 points, of the 45 possible for the semester, during this unit. Participation and effort are worth 10 points. Cooperation and Respect are worth 5 points. The participation and effort grade will be an average of the subjective evaluation made and recorded by instructor on a daily basis. Students performance (effort) will be judged against the effort and game play rubric. Game scores will be collected at the end of each day and recorded. The cooperation and Respect grade: Every student will start the unit with five points. Reasons a student would lose points: Not following directions Not being quiet when teacher is talking Not following classroom rules or procedures, this includes wearing hats in class or

use of cell phones Not being in assigned area Leaving class without permission Insubordination Inappropriate language Any type of disrespect shown to instructor or member of the class.
