Choice Home Dialysis can assist you and your family in managing your healthcare choices for dialysis treatments and therapies. Home Hemodialysis (HHD): Short daily dialysis with NxStage System One: Hemodialysis treatment is done at home, 5-6 days per week, lasting around 2-3 hrs. The patient and their partner are trained over 3-4 weeks at our training o ce on Bud eld St. or in their home. Specially trained nurses will adapt the program to meet the patients needs. The NxStage system is easy to use, small and portable, does not need special electrical connections and needs only minor plumbing modi cations.

Peritoneal Dialysis (PD): Two types of peritoneal dialysis, CAPD Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis and CCPD Continuous Cycle-Assisted Peritoneal Dialysis are o ered to the patient. The patients are taught to perform the therapy either alone or in combination with a partner. A thorough training course is completed over a period of 1-2 weeks or longer as needed by the individual learner. Training is done in the home training facility or at the patients home. The patient and their partner are taught all aspects of self care, from performing the exchange procedure to monitoring the response to dialysis therapy, as well as ordering and maintaining home supplies.

Medicare pays for home dialysis training and treatment from the very rst day the patient begins treatment. Private insurances, some managed care organizations, Medicaid and veterans administration also pay for home dialysis. The CHOICE team has a renal social worker who will work with you and your insurance provider.
