VIGILX AIRBORNE ENHANCED SITUATIONAL AWARENESS SYSTEM

Aircrew need enhanced situational awareness to safely and effectively operate in challenging environments. VigilX provides enhanced situational awareness by the real-time stitching of multiple infrared and visible electro-optical sensors, delivering a panoramic through-the-hull vision. SELEX Galileo has been a leading supplier of airborne electro optical and night vision systems for over thirty years. Drawing on that experience, VigilX employs the latest technology to provide a multi-user situational awareness solution operating beyond the capability of Night Vision Goggles (NVGs). VigilX allows operations in day, night, all weather and zero-light conditions increasing the aircraft flight precision for low level flight, troop or logistic insertion, extraction, air drop, search and rescue operations. VigilX is fully compatible with a variety of displays; including Helmet Mounted Displays (HMD) for eyes out pilotage and conventional Head Down Displays (HDD) for crew and support personnel. Alternatively, a centre line patch may be displayed on a Head Up Display (HUD). VigilX is a scalable, modular system that can be readily configured to meet the individual needs of specific rotary and fixed wing platforms as well as Unmanned Air Systems. The lightweight, advanced modular design of VigilX offers significant advantages over conventional navigation systems. Each aircrew user benefits from exceptional situational awareness, extending the operational envelope of the aircraft. KEY BENEFITS Provides all aircrew with enhanced visual situational awareness in Degraded Visual Environments Extends the operational envelope for the platform to include Zero-Light conditions where NVGs perform poorly Multi-spectral situational awareness via use of infrared, low light or visible band sensors Hostile Threat Warning direct to pilots eye using built-in symbology Minimal impact on load-carrying limits due to lightweight processor Performance with high levels of reliability due to no-moving-parts design Natural head movements and intuitive control reduces required training hours.

VIGILX Airborne Enhanced Situational Awareness System A seamless panoramic image is created in real-time by geometric correction, alignment and dynamic contrast matching of infrared and visible band sensors. Both the PILOT, CO-PILOT and AIRCREW can independently view any area of the scene, greatly enhancing their combined situational awareness.

Modular System VigilX is designed around a flexible image processing module which supports cameras of mixed resolutions, fields of view and wavelengths. A typical VigilX system consists of six low-cost, lightweight, un-cooled infrared cameras mounted in a sensor-head in the nose of the aircraft. The high-resolution infrared cameras provide ultra clear images, day or night over a wide field of view, covering the forward arc of the aircraft. Versatile Functionality Existing aircraft sensors can be fully integrated with VigilX. Surveillance data from radar can be overlaid on the VigilX display. The VigilX operator can also direct an Electro-Optic turret to identify targets of interest.
