ANSWER: STEP 7 - Micro/WIN starting with version 3.2.1.x cannot be installed under Windows 95, as long as the software required for supporting Ethernet options is not installed. In the newer Microsoft operating systems, this software is automatically installed. The following requirements for the installation of STEP 7-Micro/WIN starting with version 3.2.1.x have to be met: Option 1

Network card (requires installation disk / CD of the manufacturer) TCP/IP installation (requires installation disk / CD for Windows 95) TCP upgrade to winsock 2 - this file can be downloaded from the internet from the following page: http://www.microsoft.com/...

You might also have to install an upgrade of the Microsoft Internet Explorer to version 5.0 or higher. Option 2 If no network card is installed, please proceed as follows.

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. In the tab Windows Setup, select "Communications".

Confirm with "OK" and "Apply". Follow the instructions on the screen when asked for the Windows 95 CD. Confirm with "OK" when you are asked to enter computer and work group name. Enter the names for the computer / workgroup / computer description and apply with "Close". Confirm the next two windows with "OK". Open the network dialog box in the control panel Select "Add" and then "Protocol". Select Microsoft and TCP/IP and confirm with "OK".

Confirm the next window and the restart with "OK". Start the file W95ws2setup.exe and restart the PC. Start the file 50comud.exe and restart the PC. Now install the STEP 7 - Micro/WIN 3.2 SP1 or higher.

The files W95ws2setup.exe and 50comud.exe can be downloaded.
