Dear Students, Sub: Final Project and Dissertation Over the past five trimesters you have been

exposed to numerous business as well as subjects that have given you the basic concepts, and shaped your thinking on management. During this period you also had extensive practical and experiential learning through several interventions in the form of workshops and guest lectures. All this has given you the breadth of exposure which is very vital for a business leader. Keeping in mind our Institutes core purpose of nurturing thought leaders, we are keen to see that you complete this program at the end of the final trimester (6th Trimester) with a deep and cutting edge knowledge in the subject of your interest. As most of you have been selected by good organizations operating in different verticals and for various roles, you would find it most fitting to pursue a detailed research on a subject which best suits your career interest, takes you to the present limits of that subject, and encourages you to contribute in terms of original thinking about some facets of that subject. We therefore have a dedicated research project and dissertation for the Trimester-6 for 2 credits ( 200 marks) for the E Biz batch and 1 credit ( 100 marks ) for the PGDM batch. The objective of the research project is: to provide an opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge in any subject of your choice as long as it relates to the fields of management and / or design to compliment your breadth of exposure with depth in a chosen subject making you a Tshaped professional to encourage you to create new knowledge, and stimulate in you the desire to become a thought leader, even as you blend practical orientation with solid academic research showcase your contribution and give you a position among the management and design community by helping you publish your work.

The appended project schedule gives the stages in the research project. There would be an evaluation at each stage. The time lines are also indicated and failure to meet them would lead to a partial / complete loss of credit allotted for that stage. The respective vertiical heads will be your primary mentors and facilitators for these projects. The allocation of students to other mentors will be as per guidelines from the vertical heads. Vertical heads; Operations Prof Murali Mohan HR- Prof Savitha G R Marketing Dr. Githa Heggde Finance Dr. Madhavi Lokhande IT-Dr. Jai Raj Nair

You can associate any of the core faculty at Welingkar, Bangalore as your guide for the project, based on the project domain after consulting the vertical head. You could associate any of the above mentioned mentors also as guides for your research. Additionally, you may take guidance from any other domain expert from academia or from industry. Industry sponsored / supported projects are also acceptable. However they would have to be validated by the mentors to ensure that they do have an academic research orientation in the way the projects are conducted. You are required to finalize the subject for the research project, as well as the guide, and to submit the synopsis duly signed by you and your guide as per the enclosed schedule. The synopsis should be submitted to the respective vertical heads with a copy to the ADC. Best regards Dr. Madhavi Lokhande
