Dodgeball 6 players to a team Single elimination tournament 1 minute sudden death overtime period if there are equal numbers of players per team at the end of the game o Overtime periods will begin with an equal number of dodgeballs-in-hand behind a teams end line o Teams may NOT pass the half court line o The first team to eliminate an opposing player will be declared the winner Substitution can ONLY be made at the start of each game, or in case of injury Beginning of the Game 6 balls will be placed on the center court line Matches will begin with the flip of a coin to determine sides On the whistle, teams approach the line to retrieve dodgeballs Every dodgeball retrieved from the center line on the opening rush MUST be taken back beyond the attack line (foul line extended) before the ball may be thrown at an opponent Rules A player may block a thrown ball with a ball he/she is holding, providing the held ball isnt dropped as a result of the contact with thrown ball A player may carry or pass the ball into backcourt o Backcourt is the area between your teams attack line and the end line of the basketball court 5 minutes into the game, the official will blow his/her whistle and teams may go up to the attack line of the opposing team o The attack line is the free-throw line extended The first team to eliminate ALL opposing players or the team with the greatest number of players remaining at the end of regulation time will be declared winner At OUT is scored by: o Hitting an opposing player with a live thrown ball below shoulders o Catching a LIVE ball through by your opponent o Stepping out of bounds (except to retrieve a ball) If a player retrieves a ball he/she must re-enter the game through the end line During play, stepping on any boundary marker to avoid being struck is considered leaving the court

Tuesday April 17th

If a ball is deflected off a player and caught by a teammate, then the player who threw the ball is out and the player who was hit by the ball has been saved by his/her teammate If people on your team have already been declared OUT, they may stay on the end line to retrieve any dodgeballs that leave the court area People on the end line may NOT enter the boundary of the court area at any time Stalling A team trailing during a regulation game must be given the opportunity to eliminate an opposing player This requires a ball to be available to the trailing team Its illegal for the leading team to control all the balls for more than 5 seconds If the leading team controls all the balls, they must get a least one ball across the attack line and into the opponents backcourt If this isnt done within 5 seconds, a five second violation will be called A team may avoid a five second violation by throwing or rolling a ball into the opponents back court The leading team may not throw at a player who, in the officials opinion, is in the act of securing a ball (in a vulnerable position) ONLY an official may call a five second violation o First violation of five second violation: stoppage of play and balls will be divided evenly between teams; play will continue with balls in hand o Second violation: free throw for the opposing team A free throw is an unobstructed throw at his/her opponent(s) without risk of elimination This is possible because a caught free throw will NOT result in player elimination o Third violation: ejection of one player from the offending team Dodgeball 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place Participation
