Is the Once Saved Always Saved Doctrine a lie?

By Jeremy Kapp

This is a compilation of scriptural evidence proving the popular doctrine of Once Saved Always Saved to be a dangerous deception.

"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins." Hebrews 10:26. *This implies that there was salvation at an earlier time... But if you remain true to the teaching of Jesus, no one can pluck you from his hand... or separate us from God as Paul also said. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" 1 Timothy 4:1. *People will depart from the Faith... they must have once had faith. "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." Hebrews 6:4-6. *A truly saved and fully renewed man can willfully fall away from the faith. "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that

was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2:20,22. *Turn from what? Turn from their salvation-giving faith. The underlined text actually explains that this loss of faith has actually happened at the time of this writing as according to the scriptures. And their condition is now worse than before they were saved because to be saved again would be to crucify Christ again. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5 *Why would we need to examine ourselves to see if we're still in the faith if we could never lose it? Also, the word reprobate means "cast out" in any dictionary.., because if you are cast out, there no longer remains a sacrifice? if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; 2 Timothy 2:12 *If you are a part of the body of Christ, but later disown him, you will be cast out. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. John 10:28-30 *If your belief remains in Christ and you endure until the end, you will remain safely in their hands. Adam and Eve were safely in Gods hands until they willfully left. "But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;" Hebrews 3:13,14. *If? Your faith must remain or you will be deceived into losing salvation. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelation 2:10. *This does not say to find faith before death, but to BE FAITHFUL UNTIL death... anything else would be to lose your faith, which is exactly what this warning is about. "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." Revelation 3:11. *This implies that by not holding to the faith your crown CAN be taken by deception. "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30 *Do not grieve the Spirit that seals your salvation. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. Romans 8:30 *God knows beforehand who will endure until the end, and they will be glorified! As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These

promote controversies rather than God's workwhich is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. (1 Tim 1:3-6). * Some have wandered away from a true sincere faith! The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. (1 Tim 4:1) * Some will abandon a true sincere faith as mentioned a few verses earlier! I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3: 15 *Here we have the church of Laodicea, a full assembly of believers cast out by Jesus. They must have been in Christ to be cast out of Christ.

A brief breakdown of 2 Peter 2:18-22 18 For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error; * Bad men will try to talk good people who are getting saved into living a wrong life. 19 promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him. * These men are not saved, but will make false promises to keep good people from salvation. 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. * Because when good people find salvation and lose it by deception, they are worse off than before. These people HAVE escaped defilement and later became entangled again. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. * "He that believes in me will be saved," If you turn from the Holy Commandment delivered to you, You will be worse off than before you were saved and escaped the defilement of the world. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog turns to his own vomit again, and the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire. * This falling from the Gospel has happened, and as mentioned in vs 18, will continue. A washed sow is equal to a saved person, and returning to the mud is equal to leaving the state of cleanness and returning to defilement. Their salvation only lasted a short time.

Comparing the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:20

20 21

The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of

the word, they quickly fall away. * These people received the word with joy, but when persecuted or deceived by bad men they fall away. What lasted a short time here? A wheat is sown by God, and a tare, by Satan... So an evil tare has quickly deceived a SAVED Wheat into returning to his former unsaved state... just as Peter said. It is too difficult to suggest this text is referring to a man who was never saved. An UNSAVED man just can't fall away from anything. You can only RETURN to the ways of defilement if you have found an undefiled state. The text and meaning are worthless if it is not a warning for saved men to avoid losing their crown of salvation by deception. Hold fast to your faith until death and you will be saved; nothing can separate a man of faith from God's hand. Dont fall like Judas!
