Who Am I?

(Understanding my own abilities based on Gardners Multiple Intelligence Test) Last month, I took the Scholastic Reading Test to find out more about my current reading level. I was happy to find out that I can still keep my job at least this year based on the results. Well, the truth is, I am happy to see that my ability to comprehend the stuffs I read is still sharp. (I really would personally hand over my resignation paper right away if my Lexile level went down to 600) Thus, I can still proudly claim my right to teaching English and Reading subjects. So, taking up another exam again concerning my other abilities and find out more about what I can do with the hopes that it can augment my current performance and confidence in my job, are most welcome. After taking the free exam on the web about multiple intelligences, I have managed to acquire the following scores in each of the seven intelligence types:

Intelligence type Linguistic LogicalMathematical Musical Bodily-Kinesthetic Spatial-Visual Interpersonal Intrapersonal

Capability and Perception words and language logic and numbers music, sound, rhythm body movement control images and space other people's feelings self-awareness

Scores 36 19 32 27 30 24 32

Based on these results, I can finally confirm that being an English teacher was one of the best choices Ive ever made since it my intelligence corresponds to it pretty well. Being highly linguistic means that I have the necessary faculty in the job I currently have. Next in line are my musical and intrapersonal intelligence which both come as second. The former underscores my passion for music and, being a band singer before (and in many intermission numbers to date), I suppose that this also explains my inclination to music (though I struggle reading notes) as I constantly try to learn playing the guitar (though as it stands, I can only do it on my ipad 2 at the moment). The latter likewise affirms my heightened self-awareness that eventually allowed me to expect more from myself and fortunately, achieved some reasonable amount of merits in the academic world. This has also helped me a lot in preparing and pursuing definite goals in life. After these comes my spatial-visual intelligence which confirms its palpable presence in the way I teach especially in literature where I extensively use my ability to connect images in their respective meanings or in other words, dealing with symbols in the creative works I discuss with my students. Then my kinesthetic intelligence comes in as fifth validating my not so active preference to sports (except chess) and other physically exhausting activities. The second to the last in my intelligence types is the interpersonal which accounts for my inability to socialize with other people (which I honestly admit), which makes them view me as snobbish or aloof. However, this particular habit of mine came from my own personal inferiority complex; something I believe most people are not aware about. And the intelligence type where I scored the lowest is none other than the logical-mathematical. Needless to say, my ultimate weakness ever since has been Mathematics. While I find words easy to understand and remember, numbers just dont stay long in my head. Putting all these things together resemble who I am. Love me or hate me, I am proud of it.
