In order to help students secure internships, jobs, and placement in graduate school, the following GPA rule has been approved by the ME Faculty and will be implemented for incoming freshmen as soon as it is approved by the UG Curriculum Committee: To remain in good standing with the Mechanical Engineering department, you need to have a minimum 2.4 GPA. If you fall below that minimum, you will be on departmental probation for one semester. If after that semester you do not raise your GPA to 2.4 or above, you will be suspended from taking MECE courses.

Student Academic Integrity In addition to technical expertise and professionalism, you are expected to maintain high standards of ethical conduct in your academic life. Handbook of Operating Procedures Section 5.2.2 describes important consequences for cheating, plagiarism, and collusion. The ME department is adopting a zerotolerance stance with regard to scholastic dishonesty. Penalties could include the expulsion of the student from the University. The university policy is two strikes and youre out. Students will be suspended from UTPA upon the second offense.

I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating. - Sophocles
