    EA Sport is one of game developer companies. In 2010, EA Sport released FIFA 2011, one of footballgenre games. In fact, it was succeeded in its sales. According to sales data which were publicated by Marketing Division of EA Sport, FIFA 2011 was sold an average of 890.000 copies per week. Six months later, KONAMI, the competitor, released PES 2011 (a similar football-genre game with FIFA 2011). The appereance of PES 2011 had made EA Sport was worried enough about their product sales. That was because, after PES 2011 was released, a sample shows sales of FIFA 2011 were declined to an average of 885.000 copies per week. The decreasing sales were suspected as an effect of consumers switchover to their competitors product. Therefore, Production Director of EA Sport asked you as Chief of EA Sport Marketing Division to investigate FIFA 2011 statistic of sales, whether there has been a significant change in mean number of game sold per week after PES 2011 was released. Assume that sales of FIFA 2011 follows a normal probability distribution with a standard deviation of population is 10.000 copies per week. Using two-tailed test, test whether there has been a significant change in mean number of sales of FIFA 2011 after PES 2011 was released (use 0.20 significance level). Interpret the result. Production Director is not sure with your result because you had a quite large significance level. Therefore, he asks you to re-test, but now use 0.01 significance level. Interpret the result. Compare your answer in no.1 and no.2. Based on your both result, is it reasonable if Production Director worry about declining sales of FIFA 2011 after PES 2011 was released ? Why ?

    3. JATAYU AIRLINES provides domestic flight services from Medan to Makassar. According to historical data, average number of passengers for Medan-Makassar route is 890 persons. Recently, there are 3 routes available for Makassar arrival. They are (Route 1) Medan-Makassar ; (Route2) Medan Jakarta Makassar ; (Route3) Medan Surabaya Makassar. For route 1, Jatayu Airlines spend Rp 600 million for the operational costs. Meanwhile, for both route 2 and route 3, the operational costs are Rp 700 million. From historical data, samples were taken from 10 flights for the route 2 and route 3, then obtained data on the number of passengers as follows : Medan Jakarta Makassar 677 892 789 650 768 820 884 779 989 832 Medan Surabaya Makassar 789 788 768 754 989 658 998 927 900 889

    Because the company faced financial crises, Management Jatayu Airlines plans to close route 2 or route 3. To take this decision, management considers operating costs and statistics of the number of passengers. However, because they do not understand statistics, management Jatayu Airlines ask for your help as a consultant to provide them solution: which route will be closed. Based on data available, test whether there are statistically significant difference between number of passenger on route 1 with route 2. Based on data available, test whether there are statistically significant difference between number of passenger on route 1 with route 3. Compare the results you get from an answer no.1 and no.2. Which route would you recommend to management Jatayu Airlines to be closed ? Why ?
