Patanjali Yoga (Ch 3: Vibhuti Padam ) [Attainment of Siddhis/miracle]

Holding the attention on a symbol or image inside or outside the body is called Dharana (focus of the mind) When the awareness flows evenly towards the point of attention, this is known as dhyana (meditation)

1) During meditation, when mind vanishes slowly with the awareness of its essential nature shining forth in unbounded purity , is Samadhi. 2) Dharana,Dhyana and Samadhi practiced together are known as Sanyama 5)When sanyama (ie practising of Dharana,Dhyana and Samadhi practiced together) is achieved, the light of the Universal Soul will be the sole guiding force (,not by the senses, not by the thought, not even by any acts and that is how Christ,Nabi,Vyasa and countless saints became god/ssuper humans) 3) But Sanyama technic has its application at every stage in the further development of the Soul. 6) #It [Sanyama technic of practising of Dharana,Dhyana and Samadhi together] is the heart of Yoga called the internal disciplining (antharanga) activities. #whereas Yama,Niyama,Asana,Pranayama and Prathyahara are called external (bahiranga) disciplining activities. 7) But (relatively speaking,)for *nirbijasamadhi this internal disciplining is merely external (since there are a lot of grounds to be covered further towards perfection) * When karmasayam is totally eliminated, practitioner attains the nirbija samadhi. [Note : karmasayam is the accumulated wisdom attained by the combination of intellect and experiential memories/vasanas, creating a persons culture (samskaram)] 8) Yet pure unboundedness is way beyond Sanyama 9)Nirodha parinama,is a state that is attained next when the rise and fall of impressions cease and a silence pervades. 10) This peace (due to Nirodha Parinama) flows evenly into the mind (but this is only temporary ,as there are miles to go) 11) When sadhaka attains samprajnatha yoga then the unsettled state of mind wanes and concentration dawns. And such times often the mind becomes imageless and

thought less .This transformation of the mind from unsettled to the settled state with one-pointed state is called Samadhi Parinamam. 12)When mind settles from its natural dispersed state to focused state such transformation is called Samadhi Parinama. But in the most concentrated /onepointed Samadhi state, activity and silence or dispersal and focus of the mind becomes one single state called the Kagrata Samadhi . 13)By this so far the transformation of the Form-Function-State of the sense-mind ensemble is explained. 14) Each object carries its past, present and future qualities with it 15)The diversity of evolutionary track creates different end results 16) Doing Sanyama (ie., doing Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi together) on the transformation of Form-Function-State brings knowledge of past, present and future. 17) Perception of an object is often confused ,because its name, form and concept are all superimposed.By doing Sanyama on the distinction between these three,we can understand the sound of all living beings 18) From the direct experience of latent impressions comes knowledge of prvious births. 19)And from the direct experience of its state, we can know the quality of another mind 20) We know the quality ,but not the content of the mind because that is not at this level called sanyama 21) Sayama on the form of the body makes it imperceptinle,by breaking the contact between the eye of the observer and light reflected by the body. Using this sanyama principle,Yogi can become invisible 22)By sanyama on the fruits of action comes knowledge of when the fruits of these action will occur in life or how to prolong it or whrn death will happen. 23)From sanyama on friendliness ,compassion and happiness, these qualities blossom 24)From sanyama on the strenghth of an elephant,or other creatures,we gain that strength. 25)By directing the inner light we can see what is subtle, hidden fro view or far away

26)From sanyama on the sun comes knowledge of the various realms of the universe 27) From sanyama on the moon comes the knowledge of the arrange ment of stars 28)From sanyama on the pole star come knowledge of their motion . #Otherwise it would be difficult to explain the high accuracy of vedic astrological predictions 29) Sanyama on the navel centre brings knowledge of the bodily system. 30)Sanyama on the hollow in the throat brings cessation of hunger and thirst. 31) Sanyama on the kurma #nadi brings steadiness 32)From sanyama on the *light in the head we see the perfected ones #Nadi is a complex system of non-material ,subtle channels invisible to the human eye *The nadi system ends up in a subtle channel in the head called Brahma Randhra in which the light exists 33) By the clarity of intuitive perception, everything can be known 34)From sanyama on the heart comes awareness of pure mind. BG:15:6 The sun does not illumine it,nor the moon, nor the fire; That is my supreme state reaching which they do not return BG:15:7 Verily a part of myself, having become this eternal, embodied soul, draws to the world of beings the senses with the mind as the sixth, which rest in Nature 35) The self and the mind-intellect are not the same, the former being steady and the latter fickle, representing nature. And , all acts of mind-intellect are for self realization. Sanyama on self realization brings knowledge of ones Soul/Self

36) From this are born intuitive clarity, finest senses of hearing, touch, sight, taste and smell.

.#When the light of the soul/self is projected through the filter&film of sense impressions and memories, on the screen of intellect, that becomes the ego. 37) Yet ,even as all these six (miraclulous) attainments (siddhis) happen, they should be abandoned, because they are obstacles for spiritual progress further. 38) When the attachment to the body is loosened and there is perfect knowledge of the movement of the mind, the ability to enter anothers body is gained 39) On mastery of #udana we can direct the body upwards and avoid contact with such things as water, mud and thorns. 40) On mastery of samana, the body gets the halo . #Of the many pranas which run through our subtle (invisible) nadis.,there are five most important. These are: 1) Prana :subtle (invisible) controls of respiratory functions 2) Apana : subtle (invisible) controls of excretory functions 3) Vyana :subtle (invisible) controls of circulatory functions 4) # Udana : subtle (invisible) controls of lifting the soul upon death 5) Samana : subtle (invisible) controls of equilibrating the essences in the body These pranas are important in Ayurveda and Vedic Astrology too. Note: These miracles are manifest by steady practice, birth or drugs.

41) Doing Sanyama (ie., doing Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi together) on the relationship of hearing and Akasha, one hears the Voices of the Gods,Angels, Celestials ,and even of the Absolute God !

Note: This explains How Prophet Mohammed,Jesus or Moses or Abraham, talked to God,as well as how Vedavyasa heard or saw the Vedas as celestialpersons --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------42) From Sanyama on Akasha, along with concentration on the lightness of cotton fibre,we can move through air at will This explains how sage Narada moves between different worlds also the UFOs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------#Note:All these miracles are manifest by steady practice, birth or drugs. And that there are such drugs also explains the cause of drug addictionit becomes addiction because of the ignorance factor due to Ego..taking it for pleasure , not leading to Salvation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

43) The functioning of an evolved mind outside the confines of a given body is known as mahavideha the great bodyless state .This destroys the veil of ignorance around the Soul 44) Mastery of the elements comes from sanyama on their forms-earth,water,fir,air and space; On their characteristics - mass, fluidity, heat, motion and omnipresence On their essences odour, flavour, form, texture and sound On the relationship between these forms, characteristics and essences and on their evolutionary purposes. 45) From Mastery over elements come the eight physical perfections (Ashta Siddhi) 1) Anima: Shrinking the body to the size of an atom---This is what Anjaneya/Hanuman used to enter Suras mouth as well as the Lanka City 2) Laghima: Making the Body Very Light. This is what Jesus used to walk above water 3) Mahima: Making the body Very heavy 4) Garima: Making the body Large 5) Prapti : Getting every enity as desired-Jesus for example made 5000 people take food from 5 bread loaves 6) Prakamyam:Getting the essence of experience without actions 7) Ishitwam:Controlling the Elements and Nature 8) Vashitwam: Taming the Panch Bhoothas and Nature itself

46) Kaya Sampathi : Is the mastery over body to maintain beauty, grace, strength, and adamantine hardness. 47) Mastery over the senses is gained from sanyama : On Their power over perceiving On The sense organs themselves On The feeling of I-ness which sense perception creates On The relationship between these aspects of the senses And On their evolutionary purpose 48) As a result of this, the senses can move with the speed of thought and operate independently of the body. This is Masteryb over Nature. 49) He who has realized the subtlest distinction between mind,ie,the transparent intellect and the Self or the Shining soul enjoys supremacy over all creations.Nothing remains unknown to him. 50) And when he is unattached even to this state, the very seeds of bondage are destroyed and enlightenment follows. 51) One should not respond with pleasure or pride to the alluring invitations of the celestial beongs, because this will obstruct progress, and it is always possible to fall. 52) From sanyama on each passing moments, and their succession, the finest discriminative knowledge is born. 53) This empowers the Yogi to distinguish two apparently identical objects 54) Knowledge born of the finest distinctions take us to the farthest shore. It is intuitive, omniscient and beyond space-time. 55) And when the translucent intellect is as pure as the Self, there is enligtenment
