Introduction
Supply chain management (SCM) is the oversight of materials, finances and information as they travel in a process from supplier to manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to consumer. Supply chain management includes coordinating and integrating those flows within and among companies. It is believed that the highest objective of an effective supply chain management system is to reduce inventory (with an assumption that products are always available when they are needed). As a resolution for successful supply chain management, complicated software systems in the midst of Web interfaces are contending with Web-based application service providers (ASP) who guarantee to offer part or all of the Supply Chain Management service for corporations who use their service. Supply chain management (SCM) flows are divided to those three flows:
The product flow consists of the flow of goods from the supplier to the customer, plus any customer returns or service needs. The financial flow involves credit options, payments, and consignment and title ownership planning. The information flow includes transmitting orders and updating the status of delivery.
Consumers will be more concerned about the products they are purchasing as the society become more aware of environmental matters and global warming. Corporations should be expecting questions about how environmentally friendly and green their manufacturing processes and supply chains are as well as their carbon footprint and how they recycle.
Reduce environmental risks and costs. take innovative decisions responding to green theory Improve process, supply quality and productivity and product. Gain better status and also minimize customer pressure. Initiate brand differentiation and customer loyalty by providing unique capabilities to deal with environmental issues.
Conclusion
To conclude with, green supply chain can be apply by almost all companies using the supply chain management. Green supply chain is not only environmentally friendly but it can also work for the beneficial of the company. It must implemented by all companies to increase their effectiveness and efficiency.
