ZEN AND THE HORSE, is a way of spiritual training and self development. It uses the principles and techniques of Zen meditation (posture, breath, awareness) in relationship to the horse. Zen and the Horse enables its participants to directly experience their interconnectedness with all life. The goal of Zen and the Horse is for the rider to experience how their awareness is directly influenced by their posture and breath and reflected by the horse. The relationship fostered between rider and horse is one of mutual respect. Zen and the Horse emphasizes the importance of taking what the rider learns from training with the horse into the rider's daily life. Zen and the Horse is about the efficient use of a person's body and mind in horse-back riding and can be applied to any riding discipline.
