The Wisconsin Mounted Police Team is comprised of law enforcement agencies with officer and horse teams that train the same way and are able to come together and work together with little or no preparation. The formation riding is based on the same commands and movements as the cavalry used. This methodology has endured through time as an effective, coordinated means of efficiently moving through crowds, or if necessary, controlling and/or moving crowds. The horses are almost all personally owned by the officers riding them.
