Then ])onila said, ''Tljat's not his real

we never thought he would live."
. Shaking my head while staring at
Donna, I could see she had not heard
this baby hOrse say the same thing. Re-
membering that I had come to work.
I rubbed my forehead and took deep
breaths to focus on Donna's Palomino.
My. mind continued to swirl between ex-
citement at finding my new herse and the
horror of his cQndition. Seeing his burned
. legs brought me back to all the unhealed
pain from my fiery ,car accident. Want-
ing to rim away crying and screaming,
fighting back my tears, I forced myself '
to settle down and complete a successful
conyersatipn with the Palomino.
Upon finishing our cQnversation,
Donna said, ''Let's talk to' Baby." 1\rrn-
ing her attention to the colt, she stated,
"I want to know if he has any ideas .for a
real n!jIIle." .
"OK, sure." Closing my eyes, I imag-
ined a cord of 'white light flowing from
my heart to bis.
In a quiet voice he said, '''That's nice .
That feels like sunshine." He went on to
say proudly, "My name is Cute as a But-
ton."
Repeating this to Donna, she replied,
"Amazing! His stallion's name is The
Cash Button."
The sUn was setting and I needed to
ieave. I thought to myself as I stood there
looking down at the grass, still tryfug
not to cry, How do I ask Donna if he"s
for sale? What if she says no? Should I
. tell her about the angel's message? Heat
swelled up inside my chest and nothing
came out of my mouth but 'good-bye.'
I gave the sweet colt one more look and
headed toward my car. .
My heart ached in pain as ' I walked
away from this precious baby boy. Open-
ing the car door and sitting inside, I
crumpled upon the steering wheel. Sobs
racked my body as I thought, "Will I ever
be able to have the horse that God sent
me?" , .
