Seco Tools is introducing a new Ball nose cutter designed to deliver higher performance and better reliability in copy milling applications. This high metal removal cutter can handle very high feed rates thanks to a rigid design and the two effective teeth. K=2. The best cutter on the market, R218.20. R218.20 has a unique seating with tenon location to avoid stress on the locking screw and to prevent insert rotation. The chip space is large and includes a big radius to make the cutter stronger in the centre. THE R218.20 CUTTER BODY DESIGN.

In order to make a secure locking of the insert tenons have been placed in the pocket seat. The tenons reduce the stress on the locking screw and prevents the insert from rotating in the pocket seat.

To improve the chip evacuation and reduce the risk of chip jamming the cutter has a large chip space. In the centre a large radius has been provided in order to make the cutter stronger to handle the impact from the cutting forces.

MAXIMUM METAL REMOVAL


Seco Tools High Feed solution 217/220.21 and Minimaster are tools for very high metal removal rates and increased productivity. Compared with round insert cutters, which are perfect for copy milling when using small overhang and/or machining under stable conditions, the High Feed cutters are superior when machining in deep pockets with long overhang and/or machining under unstable conditions depending on either the machined component or the long overhang or the machine. The reason is reduced vibrations thanks to a favourable direction of the cutting forces. The High Feed cutters are exible tools for pocketing and plunging specially designed for maximum metal removal rates under unfavourable conditions. process using low depths of cut, but still reach metal removal rates up to 1,000 cm/min. In plunging operations you are productive due to the large radial depths of cut. It is a highly productive method for deep cavities and shoulders. You can use the High Feed Cutters in plunging operations with large overhangs and in face milling at small depths of cut with very high feed rates.

3 TIMES AS FAST WHEN USING LONG OVERHANG


The cutting edges of the High Feed tools are designed with a very big radius in comparison to the diameter of the tools. This in combination with using small depths of cuts means that the cutting forces are directed in the axial direction towards the spindle, which is very favourable when using long overhangs. The result is also that very high feed rates can be used without tendencies to vibrations.

This example shows that when machining with large overhangs, in this case seven times the diameter, the high feed cutter has a superior performance due to the facts mentioned in the paragraph above.

Seco offers a wide range of Jabro solid end mills with full radius and corner radius (also called torical or bull nose) tools in solid carbide for 3D milling in the market segments die & mould, aerospace, powergen, medical and general machining We offer a big variety in tool diameters, going from diameter 0.125 mm. The DIAMOND end mill concept keeps surprising graphite-machining companies. The DIAMOND coatings protects the cutting edge of the milling cutter to such extent that a tool life is eight to ten times longer than those of milling cutters with a conventional coating. FASTER, STRONGER AND MORE EFFECTIVE


Round insert cutters are the most exible tools in 3D milling. They can be used for many types of applications like circular interpolation and helical interpolation ramping, shoulder milling, slot milling, plunging and ramping. This makes this type of cutter more effective than most of the products used for 3D milling. The round insert is a very strong geometry, which makes it suitable for machining in all types of materials. The strong geometrical shape also allows high material removal rate.

As mentioned before, round inserts are very strong and therefore suitable in difcult operations and materials. Round inserts allow the use of more edges than other geometries, which makes it more economical.

Seco Minimaster for 3D milling is available in 2- and 3ute versions, with 3-ute version it is possible to improve the productivity with higher feed rates, and with 2-ute version it is possible to minimize the risk of vibration. Seco have continuously improved and extended the Minimaster range since its introduction in 1988. Today the Minimaster range is close to perfect, a unique end milling system which can combine different solutions due to the big range of inserts and shanks. The Minimaster system consists of a broad range of different shanks and inserts types. There are no other end milling systems, which are more exible and varied as Seco Minimaster. There are more than 600 combinations of inserts and shanks for each diameter between 6 and 20 mm.

Minimaster is available from 620 mm in diameter. The 2-ute inserts can be ordered in many different versions like under sized inserts for keyway, square shoulder inserts with sharp edges or corner radius. A MODERN MACHINING TECHNOLOGY


Plunging was invented to be able to remove large quantities of material and is especially adapted for applications where long overhang is needed, for example in 3D milling. Seco was the rst to introduce standard plunging cutters on the market, which means that we have long experience in the eld and the widest range on the market. Under normal conditions, a large overhang automatically means that cutting data must be reduced to prevent deection of the tool, often leading to vibrations, poor surface nish and inferior dimensional accuracy. However, the principal of operation of the plunging cutter enables high cutting data to be used at overhangs many times greater than in conventional operations.

R217/220-79-12 with SCET12inserts are intended for roughing operations. Diameter range 32200 mm.

R217/220.79 with AP16 -inserts ( 40125 mm) and L217.79 with XC13 -inserts ( 3250 mm) are intended for
semi-nishing.

R217.79 with XO-09 inserts ( 2050 mm) and R217/220.79 with XO-12 inserts ( 2563 mm) are
intended for nishing operations. The above mentioned cutters with XO-inserts can be used for both up-copying and down-copying in an axial feed direction e.g. for deep walls in mould tools.
