Carl & Sarah Cadwell

When we think about Calvary Chapel Sarasota, we are thankful that twenty years ago, when we started a:ending, people reached out to us and invited us to various events: The rst was a picnic at Pinecra@ Park to celebrate Dave Goods birthday, then a picnic at Oscar Scherer State Park; conFnuing on with Carl being asked to play tennis with David Good, golf with Carl Davidson, and coaching a co-ed so@ball team, then later bicycling with Pastor Carl; also Sarah being asked to join a womens group that met at an elders wifes home for cra@s and a book study, then later both being asked to join a parenFng class in someone elses home. We got to know people who really tried to reach out to us and get to know us.

We are thankful for the realness of the people who reached out to us and tried to encourage us in our many diculFes, as a newly blended family. Also, we were thankful for the real worship we witnessed and hearing the Bible taught verse by verse each week something new for us. At that Fme Pastor Carl was teaching through the book of Romans and he taught it in a depth we had never heard the Bible taught before. Our children were teens and also liked the youth group led by JusFn Holcomb at that Fme. We are very thankful that Christ brought us into a family where no ma:er how messed up we were,

no ma:er who came and went, we always knew our church leadership and church family would be there - encouraging us to persevere and giving us opportuniFes to share, grow, and lead, in spite of ourselves. Were thankful Calvary Chapel has always encouraged growth in the context of fellowship and community and the study of His Word, teaching the truth even if it wasnt necessarily the popular thing. Were very thankful for all the opportuniFes, privileges and responsibiliFes of parFcipaFng in a body where weve learned about Gods steadfast love for us in Christ, in a way we could never have learned on our own.

When we think about Calvary Chapel Sarasota we remember and are thankful for so much! Where do we begin? The wonderful Bible teaching, the worship, and the friends that we have made here over the years - just to name a few. As we look back we are extremely thankful for the Marriage Without Regrets class that Carl and Sarah led shortly a@er we moved here. God used His Word through

that class to teach us His design for marriage and it changed everything. We are eternally grateful!

When we think about Calvary Chapel Sarasota, we are thankful for the opportunity to see and feel how the church body has reached out to reach out to others God has given us the opportunity to send so many people on (long and short term) mission trips all over the world. He has provided all our needs and a lot of our wants. Ive been blessed to have the privilege to see God work on short term mission trip to HaiF. One Fme, we ran out of

construcFon screws halfway through a building project and someone said, Lets pray. We ended up with screws le@ over. One Fme, a father brought his 3 month old daughter for medical help(because the child fell in re and burned her leg). Within 3 months, she was own from HaiF to Sarasota to get medical help. The child was later adopted by Calvary Chapel Sarasota church family, who sFll a:end here.

When we think about Calvary Chapel Sarasota, we are thankful that as we look back over the last 25 years we see how God has provided, in abundant and in lean years. God has brought the greatest people to minister alongside of us in the pastors and elders and we are so grateful. We also are in awe at His provision of the building and the land. We will never forget how He provided the money to pay o the mortgage and all the bills for the renovaFon of the building.

In November 2008, we had services where we had a wall built made of bricks and had a forkli@ truck come in and break down the wall, symbolizing the wall of debt was obliterated. With much rejoicing, we then had a barbecue on the grounds, celebraFng our debt free status. What a Fme of celebraFon that was! We had great food, some wonderful fellowship and fun games as we basked in His provision and goodness.

So many memories of BapFsms, Weddings, Baby DedicaFons, Conferences and Events. We are so blessed to be part of all that our Lord ad Savior has done and look forward to what He will do through this church, Calvary Chapel Sarasota, as we trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

When I think about Calvary Chapel Sarasota I remember and am thankful for the fact that my years as oce volunteer and then as administrator at Calvary (The RenovaFon Years) were among the best years of my life. Looking back, it was the most dicult of Fmes and yet, it was the easiest of Fmes if there is one common denominator. I must say that it was prayer; constant prayer, sincere and heart wrenching prayer. Yes, prayer and a sincere reliance and trust in God to do that which was best for us in His Time and His Way.

With the humanly overwhelming tasks at hand: a leaky roof, infestaFons of furry cri:ers, woefully inadequate air condiFoning, wiring and plumbing, mold and mildew, asbestos, etc., came a deep humility and a constant reliance upon the Only One Who can ever get us through anything, the One Who assured us that with Him, all things are possible, even the seemingly impossible! With the parallel advent of our Calvary Chapel School and all its needs and growing pains, there

came a unique set of circumstances, orchestrated by God. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, side by side with students, teachers, principals and the pastors, elders, administrator, worship leader and the rest of Gods children jockeyed under one roof and a non-existent budget to get the job done and keep our sanity. For those of you who have lived through a major home renovaFon while living there, you can get a small idea of what this was like, but Our Awesome God honored and the perseverant prayers of His righteous people - a

We saw the lled with the Holy Spirit. Yes, it impossible become possible: was dicult but it was wonderful people were healed of physical, and once we chose to lay down our emoFonal and spiritual aicFons, burdens and allow Him to do it all, as a giant hole was lled, it became easy - wonderfully easy and exciFng. Each new day, starFng out in prayer and the assurance that whatever the enemy might throw at us, we could stand and know that the One Who Saves is also the One Who Sustains. We learned to be sFll and know that He is God! Yes, we did stand and persevere and yes, we did learn to love one another and work side-by-side, grateful for the gi@s that He had given each of us, but most importantly, we learned that it was not accomplished by power or might or human nances or ingenuity, it was accomplished by the Spirit of the Living God. To Him be the glory and honor forever and ever, amen!
