From the Pastors Desk - Sharing What God Has Shared With Us
have all they really need. I have shared with many over the years that we are all called to ministry: from the youngest to the oldest. We are all called to be witnesses to the love and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. They then worry saying that they dont have this or that. Much like our boy in the caption above, they ask for that one thing they think they are missing. The truth is that God has already given them all they need, all we need to be faithful servants. On that first Pentecost we are told that the Spirit came upon them settling on them like flames and then they began speaking in various tongues to those around sharing the story of Jesus Christ. Today we do the same. We may not be called upon to preach in called upon to share the love of Jesus Christ. If you think that is impossible for someone just like me. I give you this story of my 1st appointment. One of my members who is a few years older than me (I was 25 or 26 at the time), came to me and asked if it was alright to give out Halloween candy to kids. After our talk, she then helped with an outreach where they gave candy at church in 28 degree weather. We gave out 181 bags of candy and touched each child and many parents. The cards simply shared the quote of Jesus calling the children to Him and gave a greeting from the church. From that one simple act, these kids felt loved. That is what we share: not textbook definitions or theological discussions, but the love of Jesus Christ.
Ever felt like you are about to take a test which you have not studied for? Ever feel ill prepared? If so, you are not alone. In my twelve years in the ministry, I have seen many different people who have found themselves struggling with their places in ministry. Often they have come to me with great ideas, but unsure how they could ever use those ideas in real life. After all, they did not go to seminary, they dont have Masters in Divinity degrees, and they have not gotten the nod of the denomination.
