Sufyan Adli Supiani

Born on 12 January 1977, Sufyan Adli Supiani discovered his passion for music and creative work since he was 5 years old when his dad, Supiani Sapari, converted one of the rooms of his home into a music room. Sufyans paternal uncle used the room space for musical practices of his band group performances. At that point of time, prior to having 3 sisters after him, being the only child, Sufyan was rather lonely. However, the musical companionship leads to appreciation and interest towards music. Supiani Sapari had worked very long hours to make ends meet in order to send his son for basic to intermediate Electone Organ music lessons. Sufyans strength is Improvisation of music while his weakness is to sight read a musical score accurately. His creative mind often leads to an improvisation of a tune. However, improvisation and creativity gave him ideas to compose songs.

In 1992, at the tender age of 14 years old, Sufyan was the finalist of Teens Model Of the Year Contest organized by the Teens Magazine. That year, he was also offered to feature toothpaste commercial with his smiles. Musically, Sufyan Adli Supiani then discovered his singing potential after he auditioned and represented Singapore in a singing competition entitled Asia Bagus organized by Channel 5 in 1996. Being young, quiet and shy, communication and socializing were the initial challenges he faced to be in the creative industry. Nevertheless, when on stage, he managed to overcome his fears to share his singing talent with the crowd for his first national TV appearance in Asia Bagus Program. Since then, he had made efforts to overcome and chose to build his personal growth with every step and progress of his developments of his creative interest by learning from constructive criticism. During his high school days, Sufyan Adli Supiani had been a student leader as the Drum Major of the Military Band performing on every annual school events. During his National service with the Army, Sufyan was also active performing as the vocalist and keyboardist of the Orchestra Melayu Singapura (Singapore Malay Orchestra) organized by the Peoples Association. The exposures had given him opportunities of singing overseas with the orchestra for Cultural Exchange Programs in Japan and on local National Day Dinners organized by the Peoples Association. Subsequently, in the year 2000, Sufyan Adli Supiani participated on Singapores Suria Channel singing competition entitled Anugerah and contributed his vocal for the theme song for a musical entitled Di bawah Lindungan Kaabah which also mean Under the protection of Kaabah of Mecca. Since then, he had been actively singing with live music accompaniments in a variety of programs and in talk shows collaborating with big names like Anita Sarawak, Erra Fazira and Suhaimi Yusof. Sufyan Adli Supiani was also featured singing in Suria Channel Hari Raya Program.

It is about a Journey, not a Destination

In 2006, Sufyan was given an opportunity to perform in Dick Lees collaboration with Peoples Association for a gala musical event entitled Soundwaves at the Esplanade Concert Hall. To him, singing Dick Lees song entitled Bunga Sayang with grand musical accompaniment of Malay, Chinese and Indian orchestra at the Esplanade Concert Hall was a once in a lifetime memorable experience. The exposures of performing on live TV shows and singing at the Esplanade stage strengthened his beliefs in the importance of working with great teams. His team player attitude had given him wonderful experiences throughout his journey in the entertainment industry. Sufyan had also contributed community work for the Red Cross organization to sing for the disabled. Sufyan has a natural soft spot for the elderly, disabled and animals with a burning desire to help save a life whenever possible. Professionally, Sufyan Adli Supiani had 13 years of working in law firms from a clerk to a Patent Executive. In January 2012, Sufyan Adli Supiani made a strong decision to enroll himself in short courses with the prestigious SAE Institute to gain knowledge and sharpen his skills of his passion in Film Production. Comfortable with the environment and constant support of the fellow lecturers, Sufyan made another decision to pursue Diploma in Film Production in a greater depth. Education based on passion has a different perspective and impact on Sufyans life where a career change is very necessary to him for a better life. Being creative by nature, it is his natural progression to move from performing role into a digital and filming production role. Sufyan is enthusiastic in conveying messages to any medium that could tell a story be it from a music video, documentary, fictional story and reality where the creative juices can flow. In 5 years time, Sufyan Adli Supiani aspire to produce and hosting travel documentaries of different cultures around the world especially countries where it is not commonly visited and featured. He also hopes to produce and direct dramas that translate positivity to the society to dream bigger where achieving a dream can be possible when we put our heart, mind and soul for a better life. As a fan of thriller movies, it would one of his dreams to create thrillers with great teammates. Meanwhile, participating and winning filming competitions is part of his small goals to achieve bigger goals. Sufyans biggest goal in life is to give and when received, to give even more. Upon completion of his goals in filming studies and production, Sufyan hopes to get his writing on his debut novel entitled Confessions of a Fat Cat to be completed and published in good time.

As a huge cat lover, Sufyan is a happy dad to 5 pussycat boys and 1 pussycat girl namely Mario, Luigi, Robby, Bubi, Alejandro and Triki. The pussycats are raised in a very clean and color coordinated interior of his apartment. Cleanliness and cozy ambience is vital in Sufyans daily lifestyle. Home is where his heart is where he believes that in order to have a creative mind; a well-balanced space and comfortable home environment are vital for unobstructed inspiration.
