Netbackup client Installation

The following set of procedures must be followed to to install and upgrade Netbackup client on newclient. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Create a mount point for NFS share /NB_Client on new client mkdir /NB_Client Mount fileshare:/netbackup_software on new client mount F nfs fileshare:/netbackup_software /NB_Client Change the directory to /NB_Client Navigate to directory where client installation files reside Enter the following command for client installation ./install When the following message appears, press Enter to continue: Installing NetBackup Client software. Do you wish to continue? (y/n) [y] Step 7 Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Netbackup Client Upgrade to 7.1.0.1

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Navigate to directory where Netbackup 7.1.0.1 files reside Enter the following command for client Upgrade ./ NB_update.install Follow the prompts to complete the installation After successful installation, Unmount /NB_Client

Netbackup Client Configuration

Netbackup Client Installation and Configuration Process

Add below entry for Media server and check Master server entry already exists. SERVER = B Edit /etc/hosts file vi /etc/hosts Add host entry for master and media server

Creating Backup policy and exclude list for newclient

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 Open Netbackup admin console Right click Policies Select New Policy Type a name for this policy. In attribute tab define policy type, Policy storage unit, policy volume pool and select other options as requested by User. Define schedule as requested by User. In Client tab enter client name newclient In Backup select window put / for all mounted partitions Apply and close the window

Step 10 Create file exclude_list in /usr/openv/netbackup/ directory Step 11 Edit file /usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list and add below entry /not/an/important/directory
