Note:

Make sure to have gone through the proper steps of purification Make sure to be wearing the appropriate clothing which is clean Make sure it is the right time Make sure to have a clean area, mat, or rug to pray on Make sure to be facing towards the Ka'aba in Mecca. There should be something in front of your mat that marks your area of prayer and no one should pass between that marker and you as you pray

In this beginning standing posture, make sure your body and feet are in the proper position. Mentally prepare your heart to begin your prayer (state the intention of which prayer and how many rakats). Once the prayer begins there should be no interruptions or distractions except in an emergency. THE FIVE DAILY OBLIGATORY PRAYERS and the number of rak'ats (repetitions) to be offered for each: (I) (II) (III) (IV) (V) Fajr - after dawn and before sunrise. (2 rak'ats) Zuhr Noon until Asr (4 rak'ats) Asr - after the sun is about midway on its course to setting, until it actually begins to set (4 rak'ats) Maghrib - After sunset and before dusk. (3 rak'ats) 'Isha; any time after the time for Maghrib comes to an end, and before the break of dawn, but it should preferably be offered before midnight. (4 rak'ats)

BASIC PROCEDURE FOR OBLIGATORY PRAYERS: 1. Raise your hands to a level that is between the shoulders and the ears, say: Allah is the greatest | Allahu Akbar (Out loud) 2. Place your right hand over your left hand on the chest (women) or below the navel (men), recite any dua: O Allah how perfect You are and praise be to You. Blessed is Your Name and exalted is your majesty. There is no God but you. (Silently) Subhanaka allahumma wa bi hamdika wa tabara kasmuka wa taala jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuka. (Silently) **Your eyes should be focused on the place where you will pace your forehead to the ground. 3. I seek protection of Allah against the accursed Satan. Audhu billahi minsah shaitanir rajeem. (Silently) 4. Recite Al-Fatiha: In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds. Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Master of

the Day of Judgment, You alone do we worship, and your aid do we seek. Show us the Straight Path, the way of those on whom you have bestowed your grace, those whose portion is not wrath and who have not gone astray. Amen. Bismi-Llahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim, Al-hamdu-li-Llahi Rabbi-l-alamin,Ar-Rahmani-r-ahim Maliki yawmi-d-din, Iyyaka nabudu wa iyyaka nasta`in, Ihdina-s-sirata-l-mustaqima, Sirat alladhina an amta alayhim, Ghayri-l-maghdubi alayhim wa la-d-daallin. Ameen. 5. Recite an additional surah/passage: (i) In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Al-Ihklas Say: He is Allah, the One and Only! Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begets (The Fidelity) not nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him. Amen. (i) Bismi-Llahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim, Qul Huw-Allahu Ahad, Allah-us-Samad, Lam yalid wa lam yulad, Wa lam yakul lahu kufuwan ahad. Ameen (ii) Al-Kafiroon (The Disbelievers) (ii) In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Say: O disbelievers! I worship not that which you worship; Nor do you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you worship. Nor will you worship that which I worship. Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion. Amen. Bismi-Llahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim, Qul ya ayyuha al-kafiruna, La a'budu ma ta'buduna, Wa-la 'antum 'abiduna ma a'budu, Wa-la 'ana 'abidunm ma 'abadtum, Wa-la 'antum 'abiduna ma a'budu, Lakum dinukum wa-liya dini. Ameen.

6. Raise your hands and say: Allah is the greatest | Allahu Akbar 7. Then bow with hands on your knees and back and head parallel to floor and say: "Glory is to my Lord, the Almighty; Glory is to my Lord, the Almighty; Glory is to my Lord, the Almighty. Sub-hana Rabbi-al 'azeem; Sub-hana Rabbi-al 'azeem; Sub-hana Rabbi-al 'azeem. 8. Assume an upright position again, saying: Allah listens to him who praises Him. | 9. Continue in the standing position saying: Our Lord, all praise is for you alone." | 10. Raise hands again and say: Allah is the greatest. |

Sami allahu liman hamidah.

Rabbana lakal hamd.

Allahu Akbar.

11. As you bow down to the ground, ensure your knees, hands, forehead and nose touch the mat with your feet together.

12. Say: Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted; Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted; Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted. Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la; Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la; Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la 13. Assume a sitting position, say: Allah is the greatest. | Allahu Akbar. 14. Prostrate (forehead to ground) again and say: Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted; Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted; Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted. Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la; Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la; Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la 15. Remain in the sitting position with hands on thighs and say: I seek forgiveness from Allah. | Astaghfir Allah. 16. Assume a sitting position and say: Allah is the greatest. | Allahu Akbar. 17. Return to standing position. SECOND RAKAT 1. Raise your hands to a level that is between the shoulders and the ears, say: Allah is the greatest | Allahu Akbar (Out loud) 2. Place your right hand over your let hand on the chest (women) or below the navel (men), recite any dua: O Allah how perfect You are and praise be to You. Assume a sitting position, say: Allah is the greatest. | Allahu Akbar. 13. Prostrate again and say:

Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted; Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted; Glorified is my Lord, the Exalted. Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la; Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la; Sub-hana Rabbi yal a'la 14. Remain in the sitting position with hands on thighs and say: I seek forgiveness from Allah. | Astaghfir Allah. 15. Assume a sitting position and say: Allah is the greatest. | Allahu Akbar.

______________________________ 16. For 2nd or your final rakat remain sitting and say: "All our salutations are for Allah, and prayers, and good deeds. Peace, mercy and blessing of Allah be on you, O Prophet(SAWS). May peace be upon us and on the devout slaves of Allah. At-tahiy-yatu lil-lahi was sala-watu wat-tay, yibatu. As-salamu 'alayka ay-yuhan-abiyyu, wa rahma tullahi wa bara-katuhu, As-salamu 'alayna wa'ala 'ibadil-la his-sali-heen 17. While saying the next verse point with right index finger: I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad, is His slave and messenger". Ash hadu al-la ilaha il-lal lahu, wa ash hadu an-na Muhammadan, 'ab-duhu wa, rasuluh. 18. If doing more than 2 rakat stand up and repeat from step 1, but start from Al-Fatiha and omit second surah. Come back to step 19. 19. Recite Durood: "Oh Allah send your Mercy on Muhammad, and his posterity, as you sent Your mercy on Abraham, and his posterity. You are the Most Praised, The Most Glorious. Oh Allah, send your Blessings on Muhammad, and his posterity, as you have blessed Abraham, and his posterity. You are the Most praised, The Most Glorious". "Allah humma sal-li 'ala Muhammadin, wa 'ala ali Muhammadin, Kama sal-layta 'ala Ibraheema, Wa'ala ahli Ibraheema, innaka Hameedum Majeed, Allah humma barik 'ala Muhammadin, wa 'ala ali Muhammadin, Kama barakta 'ala Ibraheema, Wa 'ala ahli Ibraheema, innaka Hameedum Majeed. 20. Recite any Dua: Our Lord, grant us the good of this world and of the, Hereafter and save us from the torture of the Fire. Rubbana atayna fi dunya hasanatuh, wa fil, akheratay hasanatuh, wa qina a'zaban nar.

21. Turn your head to the right shoulder, and then left, while saying: "Peace and mercy of Allah be on you". | "As-salamu 'alaykum wa rah-matul lah".
