INTRODUCTION/ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Project title for the project was proposed 20 units double storey quarters for foreign lecturer in UMP. Quarters was proposed due to the continuously increasing number of foreign lecturer in University Malaysia Pahang (UMP). Regarding to this condition, accommodation place for foreign lecturer that already exists in UMP is not enough. Housing project is proposed in order to fix this problem and provide more accommodation place in campus. Another objective for the project is to provide a convenient and comfortable living accommodation for them with the design of houses. The houses design of the project is suitable for foreign lecturer who brings along their family together during the period they have their position at UMP. The project site proposed was located at the back area of Kolej Kediaman 2 in campus. 20 units of quarter were proposed in this project. The reason to choose the project location in UMP campus is because it is convenient for foreign lecturer went to the work place every day. The distance from the live place to work place is more shorten compare from the nearest residential area. For information, the nearest residential area is about 4KM far from the campus. The boundary of a unit of a quarter is 23m x 25m. Specification of the houses proposed is 5 bedroom, 1 master bedroom, 5 toilets, 1 wet kitchen, 1 dry kitchen, 1 family area, 1 living room, porch, and entrance hall. Modern quarter design that proposed will give harmony and comfortable living area for foreign lecturers. This is benefit for them in many aspects.

PROBLEM STATEMENTS

In this recent year, numbers of foreign lecturer in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is increased. The increasing numbers of foreign lecturers in UMP are expected will continuously increase for next few years. Regarding to this condition, it brings some problems to university especially the accommodation problem. The increment of new foreign lecturers in UMP by times has led to inadequate accommodation for them. The nearest residential is quite far from the campus which is about 25km. Since they are newcomers in our country, it must be hard for them to adapt with new environment that lead to difficulties in finding accommodation here. Another problem is the existing accommodations are not appropriate for lecturers whom choose to live with their families here. As far as we concern, the size of the accommodation is relatively small and there is no enough room provided which will probably make them feel uncomfortable.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

i) General Objective The general objective of the project is to improve the quality of the accommodation for foreign lecturers with conducive environment.

ii) Specific Objective The specific objective of the project is to build a more comfortable accommodation for foreign lecturers and their family. Accommodation with houses design will provide a convenient living for them who live with family. It is also to reduce the time consumed cause by the distance from university campus to their home. Besides that, the specific objective is to meet the increment of new foreign lecturers in UMP by times.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will consist of 20 units of quarters for foreign lecturer. Double storey quarters with 5 bedroom, 1 master bedroom, 5 toilet, 1 wet kitchen, 1 dry kitchen, 1 family area, 1 living room, porch and entrance hall. PROJECT OUTPUT

From this project , the construction of this quarters will bring many positive things such as the project will reduces the problem the placement of foreign lecturer that work at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) that have families. The other output that had been discovered is, this project can give more comfortable residency to all foreign lecturer, in addition to increasing enthusiasm for teaching at this university. Other than that, it can reduces the cost of living for foreigner lecturer and shorten the journey of foreigner lecturer to go teaching when they live inside the university.

EXPECTED PROJECT OUTCOME

Expected outcome from this project is to give more conducive lifestyle and conducive environment to foreigner lecturer also in order to build more resident for foreigner lecturer.
