Joburgs youth come out to play
Zintle Makeng SCORES of youth and hip hop lovers descended on Henry Nxumalo and decked it out for Joburgs biggest annual hip hop event when Newtown commemorated Freedom Day with the 6th Back to the City hip hop festival in and around OST (otherwise known as the Ritual Stores). A day of live music, street art, breakdancing, skateboarding, film, street fashion, gaming and more this was a spectacle not to be missed. Performers included a mix of both underground and commercial artists, including Zubz, Tuks, Pro, HHP, Zakwe, Ltido, Morale, Kanyi, Dot Com, J Stash and Kwesta. DJs on the decks were C-Live, DJ Kenzhero and DJ Raiko to name a few. Growing in leaps and bounds, we look forward to the next Back to the City festival. zintlem@thenewage.co.za BIRDS EYE VIEW: Festival goers took to the scaffolding to get the perfect view of all the activities.
